He never uses unnecessary ornamentation. He sings for soul which is felt by listeners. He stands parallel with our legendary singers like ustad Amir khan sahib and bhimsen Joshi ji. I am a fan of Hindustani classical. Became only recently and very late in life. I have been picking and chosing from KZfaq and converting to .mp3. The serene and soothing effect of the Vilambit recital is enhanced by the silent spaces in singing but which are actually continuation of the recital and which are filled by the supplementing accompanists. The same can be said of the Tabla creating a feeling of slow tempo with few sounds interspersed with large silent spaces. A very soothing effect on mind is generated when listening to such music. That must be the case why people compare the experience to meditation.
