@@kharmon thanks so much for your good wishes!! I was listening to a lot of raga during 2 weeks in hospital , starting at 4.30 am with lalit and then bhairav, todi, bhairavi etc etc throughout the day along with other great music,it really helped give a structure to my day and also a deep purpose for living as well as a great encouragement to breathe as deep as I could !

33:42 "Tana talwara, tara ki sipara liye, phirata guni apne mana mani Jahan tahan jita turata; Sura kamana, bol bana chute, jahan lagata rijhata, subhawata, vidya dhara phurata." With musical phrases as swords and high notes as shields, the virtuous musician who perfectly masters his art will win approbation quickly and easily wherever he performs. Using notes and rhythmic variations as arrows, he who has the knowledge captivates all.

I love dhrupad but I have rarely been so moved before listening to this rendition of bhupali by this consummate master of the genre. Simply magical. Not surprised to read the comments left by two Covid survivors. Life-enhancing!

With all due respect I have never heard any khayal gayak other than Kishori Amonkar come this close to the pristine levels of Bhupali. It was sublime like melting evening pouring warmth in your heart to carry on through a beautiful starry night. Divine Divine Divine. Blessed are those who attended this concert live.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Dhrupad is highly introverted and takes the listener deep within him/herself. Among Khyal singers a few, such as Kishori, Amir Khan, Amarnath come close.

No Hindustani Classical Music Raga can be captured in written notes and preserved on paper or in any other form of media for use whenever that Raga is required to be made manifest before listeners later on. Pandit Omkarnath Thakur once remarked that every Raga or Ragini (the female counterpart) has to be invoked afresh each time by the Singer who wants the divinity of that Raga to arrive on the stage and be discernible to the spiritually inclined lovers of music. How does a Raga come out from within the Singer's throat if written notes are useless? It comes out from the deepest recesses of the Singer's mind and heart into which the Guru has deposited steadily over innumerable lessons until every turn of phrase, every subtle intonation has been handed over to the pupil whether he or she has been aware of it or not. Then when the Raga or the Ragini is invoked as though in a Prayer, it all comes out effortlessly in the right order. The Singer has only to preserve his intense devotion intact and not forget that he or she is just a medium or a conduit. The Singer must not feel that something is being created on stage in any concert on any day. He or she must act as a priest who has been given the key to unlock the doors to welcome a divine visitor. Ramesh
