@@boybawang1981 I don't like to drop names but there were some real selfish players on the old squad. Two times during the olympics a selfish player got in Horan's way when she could have had the header. You could see how pissed she was when it happened. They would have had a rematch for the gold and then silver if people just let her play. I like what I'm seeing from this young squad so far. It doesn't matter who gets the goals if you get the win.

But with the simple fact that Carli held onto the midfielder’s position from 2008 Olympics until 2019 WWC, she’s played in the most games with the exception of Kristine Lily. There’s been so many games, not including Olympics and WWCs that she’s had an open player that she could simply pass it to and they woulda scored!! Balls played in for headers is a little iffy, cuz they could be headed in by whoever is closest. Some balls fall in short and some balls could sail high…. It’s just that forwards and midfielders are scorers…so they think about scoring most of the time and don’t think about the extra pass!! This is a new group of talented players…we’ll see if they can do this against better competition!!

How about we not tear down our developing players? She's 21 and has 3 assists and a goal in international competition on the USWNT during covid with such limited play time. Not to mention she's a baller on the Thorns.

She does! but for this tournament they brought in a lot of the younger players to feel out and see who could potentially be on the World Cup/Olympic teams. Lots of the veteran players weren’t there so the newer girls could get minutes. They’ll be back for qualifiers and the bigger tournaments though

They’re ranked 16th in the world….. that’s not to far off top ten.

The top 16 ' should ' get out of their group and make the round of 16 , but doubtful if they go further. And Iceland are 16th, so competitive? yes. England beat Austria 1-0 , 1-0 , and 2-0 recently and they are 19th. Any team in top 21-22 are competitive. Czech republic held both Usa and England to nil nil draws. And they are 28th. That was good play.

Yes they’re not powerhouses but it’s not like we play with our top players in this tournament. It’s a good start to see what these young players can do. If anything it shows the huge gap in talent for a third string US squad to outplay Iceland who btw is raising in Europe. The 5-0 advantage was the biggest Iceland has let in since 2015 and beyond (according to Google stats). I will look at the games in Australia to judge this team if you’re going to be critical on their wins and opponents. A 3-0 win and a late own goal draw by Australia will show how they respond to the ranked of the opponent and the talent level.

They’re no slouch with arguably one of the world biggest strikers who play both games and could have scored if it wasn’t for Murphy in goal for her first cap. The US was trying new things as well with several players debuting and change in position for players like Murge Purce. Australia had several of their key starters in Both games, and recently in Australia they won and drew against Brazil a higher ranked team just before playing the US. Any team can have an off day and Australia has been inconsistent but they never show that when they play the US. Most top ranked sides do not make it easy for the US.
