The African youth make up 37% of the working-age population, but 60% of this population is unemployed. In 2019 the level of unemployment in Kenya rose by 9.3%, out of this unemployed population, 18.3% were the youth.
Engaging the youth in agricultural value chains can help improve food security and reduce unemployment, which is a formidable development challenge in the country.
