I am going early tomorrow morning to the High Uintas. There are some great spots between the Trial Lake and Mirror Lake areas. I need to be done by Noon (I have church), but you are welcome to tag along. I know it is last minute, but if you want to come, you are more than welcome to come. Same to anyone else reading this post in time. I will be leaving from the Provo River Falls Parking lot in the High Uintas right at 7am. Bringing friends and family are ok. But be warned, I will be hoofing it across country in the forest climbing over logs, crossing streams, forging through potentially rough terrain. But it will be fun!!

It is very possible. When I was there, I ran into about 8 other mushroom hunters looking in the same area. It is a very popular place to look, yet we still found quite a few. To find them, I just have to get off the beaten path.

It is getting petty late in the season. There may be some to be found. I checked this very spot in this video a few days ago, and I couldn't find any except one small one (video coming). If you do find them, they are more likely to be in the 7,800 ft range to about 8,500 range since those area are perhaps a little warmer still.

Super Yummie!! You need to get out and find some!! You maybe have just a couple weeks before the mountain starts to freeze and they are done for the season.

It all depends. First of all, one rainstorm isn't enough to get them going. Usually it takes a series of storms to get them going. Our Utah Monsoon season usually kicks in the Summer mushrooms with a series of storms. But once they get going, then a subsequent big storm will pop them up faster than the series of storms earlier in the season. We experienced the needed series of storms this year early to mid July, and then we have had enough moisture to keep them going all summer. More recently we have not had as much rain, but they are still popping because it has been cooler, and there is still good moisture in the ground (at least above 8,000 ft in elevation). It is getting a little dry recently, but they are still popping. Just be sure to focus efforts on the flat to north facing slopes that are heavily wooded.

Yep, I agree. Not a big deal, but plastic is not great for the mushrooms. If you watch the video you will see that I got him converted over to a cloth bag instead later.
