They get all sorts of different types of balloons that are really nice and durable and are a lot more expensive than the packs of balloons at the Dollar Tree. Plus they also spent hours and hours and hours and hours putting it together, we are also paying for the labor. I bet you money if we put ur balloon arch next to a professional one that the difference will be painfully obvious

I live in utah, so do my cousins. The main difference between our families is that my aunt will go ALL out for their birthdays. Like bouncy house, expensive treats, everything. Meanwhile in my family, you get a part at a nearby park with some store bought cupcakes.

And stress is served instead of cake. Adults are all dieting, sipping on wine and straight faced serious. While the kids can't get dirty, or sweaty. Everyone is miserable and cranky by the time the party ends. The goodie bags are to thank you for putting up with the crap show.

This is soo accurate it hurts. My mom catered white cotton candy to a kids birthday once. This kid had the white bouncy castle, balloon arches, a crocheted Woody cowboy doll for each kid as a goody bag, and of course the matching outfits. But we live in Louisiana.

I get that the consumerism and aesthetics are excessive, but the consumerism goes for the “ugly” colorful character parties as well. I bet those kids didn’t even know the difference between the white bouncy house and a colorful one-all kids care about is the play, they really don’t care about the look. And they were probably super excited about the balloons too. The worst part about it is the spoiling, but the same thing goes for most kids parties. If the kids are still having a good time and the mom can make it look aesthetically pleasing for pictures to look back on, then who cares? Also cotton candy without a bunch of food dye is a huge win. I did some aesthetic parties in the past…nothing like the instagram influencer ones because everything was DIY’d, but ultimately it was too much stress and work, but I still refuse to buy ugly character stuff that is just promoting a stupid tv show and supporting mindless consumerism ha
