Epic Adventure Through Utah's Red Canyon and Historic Panguitch - You Won't Believe the Views Join me on an unforgettable adventure as we travel along Scenic Highway 12 through the stunning Red Canyon in Southern Utah! Witness the iconic Red Canyon Arch and majestic cliffs that will leave you in awe. We'll make a nostalgic stop in the historic old western town of Panguitch, Utah, where the charm of yesteryear and famous Hollywood Westerns come alive in the old downtown buildings.
But that's not all! We'll ascend Highway 143 to a breathtaking 11,000 feet, surrounded by snow-capped mountain tops and pristine mountain streams. Panguitch Lake, still partially frozen, offers a serene and picturesque stop before we descend.
Our journey concludes with a scenic drive down the awe-inspiring Virgin River Gorge on I-15, heading back to Nevada. This drive is truly one for the books-filled with incredible scenery, rich history, and unforgettable moments. Buckle up, relax, and enjoy this beautiful ride through some of the most spectacular landscapes Utah has to offer.
Don't miss out on this epic road trip - it's a journey you won't forget!

Hey Russ, happy Sunday! You certainly had a beautiful day for this adventure. Seeing that stretch of 89 in the beginning going through Hatch brings back a great memory. I was on the road early like you, the fields were all green the Sevier River was glistening, and the barbed-wire fences had little sparkling icicles hanging off them. Driving through the Red Canyon arches always makes me feel like I'm in a Roadrunner cartoon (meep meep! 🙂). Love seeing all the old-style motels in Panguitch, they evoke a rush of nostalgia about going on family road trips in the 60s and staying in places like that. UT 143 is a cool drive in more ways than one...the ice on the lake looks fantastic! I remember those steep grades and switchbacks driving down the west side, you definitely want to have good brakes there. Until next time, happy trails!

I like your addition of a side camera angle. As you stated it adds that passenger view of the landscape a driver misses because of the need to keep one's eyes on the road. Plus I get bored watching the double yellow line while going down the highway that some channels love to film. lol. You make good content. We love to watch it.

Love your channel. Have been thru the Virgin River canyon and gorge but there were no pull offs when I was there. So glad you took me thru UT. The only part I saw was HWY 70 with multiple ranch exits. However there is a modern ghost town called Cisco about 5 miles south and 20 miles east of Green River UT. That was in 1985.

I always get on google earth map when you are on the road and follow you where you go. Been on 89. Love the little towns. My cousin has a summer house in Hatch. Sometimes they go hunting there. Absolutely love Panguitch. Also Duck Creek usually gets some snow in the summer. I remember one summer it got severel feet of snow with a blizzard that hit that area It was crazy. There is a ski resort at Brian Head

Where you stopped for the road closed do to snow you were in Cedar Breaks Nat. Monument. There was a turn out on the left as you were heading towards BrianHead. A 100 foot walk you would have been looking into Cedar Breaks, kind of a miniature version of Bryce Canyon. Also just for reference when you crossed the cattle guard departing Cedar Breaks Nat. Monument there is a tall peak ahead of you and to the right. That's Brianhead Peak, tallest mountain in southern Utah, 11,307 feet ASL. One other note: All those dead trees you saw before going past Brianhead were killed by Bark Beetles ! The dead and burned trees below Brianhead are from a fire a few years ago. I worked on the mountain years ago and know it fairly well. Just sayin! :)
