Used to go to classes at around the entrance at 2:00. A serene location of the city, which my words cannot sufficiently describe.

Vredenburg translates to peace castle, a castle to keep the city at peace (under controle) It was commisioned by Charles V in 1527, completed in 1532, besieged in 1576 and demolished by the citizens what took until 1581. Despite only being there for some 50 years centuries ago it still bears the name. 1:51:40 the old looking tower in the back is part of Oudaen, a city castle also used to shoot at the spanish castle 1:53:10 a better view of Oudaen

(8:42) (1:04:14) The Romanesque Cathedral of S. Martin, Utrecht, was burnt in 1253 and the present church started the following year. The nave collapsed in 1674, separating the singe west tower from the choir and transept. The choir is a simplification of Cologne (cathedral)- the dominant influence in the lower Rhineland when Utrecht was being built. The fourteenth century tower has the open work octagon which first appeared at Freiburg in Breisgau (c. 1300) and was itself the source for the west front towers of Cologne (cathedral).The tower of Utrecht, which is 115 m (384 ft) high, was celebrated throughout the Low Countries. It can also be recognised in the Van Eyck painting of the Holy Lamb, at Ghent.
