Last year we reviewed the trail focused Can-Am Maverick Sport, a beautifully well rounded 60” wide sport SXS. It delivers a plush ride, stable predictable handling, snappy fun power, and a modern low, laid back cockpit. Check out our test of the Maverick Sport to learn all about it.
Despite the Maverick Sport DPS model’s sub $18,000 price point, it’s not a machine you have to feel you’ve settled for, especially if you typically drive on twisty wooded trails where it was designed to shine. Even in wide open spaces out west, it’s a capable sport car with the ability to cruise 60 mph as long as the terrain doesn’t get too whooped out.
With all this in mind, we had our chief SXS testing consultant and CT Racing Engine’s owner Allen Knowles trick out our Maverick Sport for drivers on any trail. The goal was to make the biggest differences in performance and enjoyment with the least amount of complex part installation and more importantly money spent.
When you’re practical and choose wisely, a small handful of parts can further improve the already lovable Maverick Sport platform without breaking the bank on big suspension and motor mods. We’ve made our sport a little faster, smoothed out the ride and turned it into a capable night time trail cruiser. We’ve liked our Maverick Sport since day one and we like it even more now.

Do you recommend this wheels and tires ? If you have the chance to change them would you? I’m thinking getting 14 wheels and 30 tires

We chose to use these tires based on where we tested if we tested. Mostly in the Sandy desert. They are good for rock crawling and dry dirt. We would choose a different tire if we rode in different conditions most of the time. If we were looking for a mud tire this would not be a good choice.What type of druving do you do? What type of terrain? The Maverick sport works good yeah it works good with 30" tires just make sure you do the clutch. You will spend most of your money on the wheels and tires. it's a small price to pay to make it run right and last.

@@UTVonDemand mud, water (rivers), and sometimes dirt. Do u recommend 14 or 15 wheels? What would be the difference? Thanks

@@reginoemc We would go with 14" wheels. The taller tire sidewall reduces the chances of pinch flats. Added sidewall flex improves traction and ride a little smoother. If we were doing something like short course racing we'd consider a larger wheel to reduce sidewall flex and improve sliding.

Hey great video! I’m running 30x10x14 maxxis carnivores. I have rubbing when I’m turned fully. Just wondering if you had any rubbing or how you modified the machine to make them work?
