In this uv blacklight photoshoot I was inspired by the mind, galaxy and the stars for our blacklight uv makeup look. Because I had to do the blacklight makeup (and filming and photography) all by myself this time, I kept the galaxy makeup theme simple and easy and just splattered the blacklight uv makeup on my model haha.
I decided to take normal uv blacklight beauty pictures, as well as light painting pictures, by using a slow shutter speed. When you use a slow shutter speed, the uv glow effect of the makeup can be used for something I like to call indirect or reflective light painting. This way you can create light being made out of stars and light. I will probably do more reflective light painting blacklight photography in the future, with light beings as theme. Look out for the tutorial ;).
I used Kryolan aquacolor uv make-up, just like in my other blacklight makeup videos. :)

Hahaha, that comment actually made me smile! Thank you for that. And yes, in fact, I am back. I plan to upload more videos soon. Most I couldn't or can't upload until 6 weeks after magazines published the image(s), and since I always show the outcome of my photoshoots + technical specs in my videos, I didn't bother to only show the behind the scenes of most shoots until I can upload everything. I have about 5 videos that are on hold due to that, so I'm currently doing some small shoots like this one so I can update my channel :). And yeah, definitely try this one out and give it a twist! I didn't invent paint splattering, so go ahead and be inspired & inspire others.

PhotoandGrime.com One of my biggest problems has been just coming up with interesting ideas. I have a few of my own, but they require people to be models and so far, I have no takers. I also have no money to hire anyone. This paint-splatter effect is one I can do to myself.

I've wanted to try a photo shoot using glow paint! Are you using hard bristle brushes to "spray" the paint on the model? If so, is this a powder that you mix with water? This is so cool!!!

if i were to do this for a party, will the make up last long??? (ie will it still look as good like half way through)
@shimmeriwoo
@shimmeriwoo 9 жыл бұрын
Angus Livingstone Kryolan Aquacolor UV Day Glow (used in this video) is like any other aquacolor facepaint :). If you don't touch it it should last for a few hours without running down. If you sweat a lot in your face, and are in a very hot room, of course it will run down a bit eventually though, like any other face paint (not very extreme unless you start touching your face). Kryolan is definitely one of the better make-up brands out there, so if you want a look that lasts long, I'd go with them, or Paint Glow UV reactive face paint (Which is more of a chalky paint btw).

Amazing video & artwork! This isn't truly a "tutorial" however because there are no verbal or on screen directions, and the process is speeded up so fast it's very tricky to grasp the actual technique(s) being used. Aside from that, thank you for posting this clip.

Wow this is so inspiring. I didn't know people could create things like this. I'm so curious, How many Blacklights did you use and what kind? Can reflective light painting be filmed on video or is it only via photographs?

Barry Moton Hi Barry :). Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the video! I used 2 400 watt blacklights, and 1 small 25 watt blacklight. I think there are cameras that are able to film the movement (not the full trace though) when you do reflective light painting, when you can drop the shutter speed lower than 1/15sec for example (or 1/30 maybe a bit, when your object moves fast).

depends if you want your skin to appear black or blue, it will look kinda purple-blue if you simply look at your skin under blacklights. I ll share a UV set up with tricks soon.

One 400 watt UV light bulb is good for a whole room (one sided light though). A 50 watt UV light bulb is okay for a portrait shot! Even though for that I'd rather use the 400 watt still, but it's good to try first to see if you're interested in UV photography (400 watt are more expensive), before you're going to invest fully in it.

Hi Vincze :). As long as it's a true UV light, it's a UV light! I don't recommend led uv light. I myself work with Omnilux UV lamps - (400 watt E-40), I use two most of the time. If you want to know more about blacklight photography, you might want to check out my uv blacklight tutorial :). You can find it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eJucedGKvdGoXWQ.html

I was thinking of buying this one, we only want to use it once, as I said before it's only for fun with my friends. Will this be enough? It's only 25W but it should suffice I think. What do you think? www.amazon.de/Schwarzlicht-Strahler-UV-Energiesparlampe-Lampe-Scheinwerfer-Lichttechnik/dp/B00DSKGN32/ref=pd_rhf_gw_s_cp_1_PMK1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0CR5S10GHXZ6RQHXH27D

Vincze Szilárd I have that one too. For frontal close-ups / portraits, it will do, if you keep the light close to the UV paint or uv reflective material. You could have your model or an assistant hold the lamp for example; make sure you do it safely though, because backlights can get very hot!
