You have such detailed & complete instructions & I LOVE that you include a detailed list of materials WITH links! It's so thoughtful & not many creators do that, so I watch their tutorials & am just left frustrated, either trying to figure out what a material is or where I can find it. So thank you!!!!!!!!

Just now getting started with epoxy resin, and have been on a KZfaq resin videos marathon. Stumbled across this video, and it has been extremely helpful. (The pendant is gorgeous!!) What was particularly helpful was how clear you were about the use of the UV light with the UV resin - stating the specific time necessary for curing. (For example, times were up to ten minutes under the UV lamp.) Every other video I've watched, the artist "waves an UV flashlight at the work for a few seconds", and PRESTO - instant cure!! My first experiences with the UV resin are identical to the time durations that you provide during your video. I was wondering if there was something wrong with my UV resin! Apparently not, after watching this video! Thanks!

Just happened to think (sorry I’m so gabby today, lol) This flower resembles a poinsettia so much, I wonder what sort of effect you’d get with maybe a red base layer, and painted with the magenta interference pain...or maybe if you can find a red interference. I dunno...just thinking outside the box here. 😂

Thanks to you, I have ordered all of the interference colors from your link, and registered with Panda Hall. Lol...I have a little tip for you on backing for bezels, if you are interested. I found some sticky clear silicone pads that are made for furniture bases. I guess it’s made to protect the flooring as well as to secure the furniture into place, but it works great and is just the right size for bezels. Plus, it’s clear so light can get through on UV resin. Hope that’ll help!

@mookzmom
@mookzmom 5 жыл бұрын
You may find these very sticky. But this is the kind I have, and I’ve seen it used online on some asian channel. When they peel their resin off, it offers quite a bit of resistance, but does peel cleanly. Here you go; www.aliexpress.com/item/3-20-Pcs-Super-Sticky-Gripping-Pad-Clear-Anti-Slip-Pads-Super-Easy-Gripping-Pad-Non/33002487455.html?spm=2114.search0204.3.245.2e2d1f93VyUtND&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_8_10065_10130_10068_10890_10547_319_10546_317_10548_10545_10696_453_10084_454_10083_10618_10307_537_536_10059_10884_10887_321_322_10103-10890,searchweb201603_51,ppcSwitch_0&algo_expid=b4c70a1d-f002-4733-8e0f-5c9e6c2ced71-34&algo_pvid=b4c70a1d-f002-4733-8e0f-5c9e6c2ced71

You could use clear tape on that silicone mat and use it to cure pieces. They will cure faster because they cure from both sides. Also if you mix on one part and fill your piece on the other you can cure it all at once. However the both sides curing thing also works with clear tape and a mirror or clear glass tile.
@ThinkingOutsideTheBox
@ThinkingOutsideTheBox 5 жыл бұрын
Oonagh72 clear tape yes, provided it’s not too sticky. It has to be this way or the glue from the tape sticks to the piece. Also, the piece is still transparent so there wasn’t any problem with it curing completely on both sides, it was fully cured. You could see nothing was left on the tape when I pulled it away. I just like to really cure things lol Even though I added chalk for colorant, it was still transparent so there will be no curing issues.
@Oonagh72
@Oonagh72 5 жыл бұрын
Thinking Outside The Box Thanks. I completely forgot about clear tape being extra sticky. Even had some not want to come off of cured resin. I habitually use parchment to cut down on the tack. Didn’t even connect that dot!! Haha 😆 Also thanks for these extra tips. I always learn something new from you!

I love your turtorials they are very concise and you explain everything very well. I am wondering though why you stated that thin layers of resin be it two-part resin or UV resin take longer to cure then thick layers of resin? I have been covering ceramic tiles with Art resin and Countertop resin for years and find the opposite to be true.
@ThinkingOutsideTheBox
@ThinkingOutsideTheBox 4 жыл бұрын
Bobbi Bare Thank you Bobbi 😊 it’s just been my experience that a thin layer, mostly with uv resin, takes longer to cure. I think it has something to do with heat dispersion. I mostly apply resin to polymer clay so that may also be why. Ceramic tiles may work better than polymer clay. Just my theory 😊
@ssue4q

This is absolutely beautiful. I've really wanted to start doing resin but all the mixing one part and two part the paint mixing with the resin blah blah blah. But this is definitely more the kind I would like to start doing!! I do have one question after you put the second set of pedals on top of the first set and then you put the resin to secure the 2nd set. So I'm assuming it's kind of just like when you use gel polish it has to be cured because it won't ever setup if it isn't it'll be sticky forever 😆 so how does that resin get cured underneath where you stuck the TOP pedals over bottom ones UV doesn't touch all of the area's? Does that make sense? Thanks in advance I'm going to start getting little supplies on Amazon and I'll use your links to help you out. Thanks again
@ssue4q

I love this pendant it's so pretty. With the little silicone mat I'm not quite understanding it looks like it has holes so when you poured the resin and then with the black chalk none went through to the table? So are those holes really not there? I'm asking because I want to order 1 Thanks in advance p.s. please see my second comment also

Absolutely fantastic, you have definitely inspired me to try this art with resin, if my attempt turns out half as good as yours than I will be over the moon. Can I ask and it might sound a stupid question but do you use only uv resin for this type of project and another question is what is the difference between uv resin and one that is supplied with hardener
@ThinkingOutsideTheBox
@ThinkingOutsideTheBox 5 жыл бұрын
Tessa T Thank you. You can use uv resin or the two part resin. The only reason I chose uv resin for this project is because it is much quicker. 2 part resin takes about 24 hours to cure. So each step would take a day. This project would take close to a week to complete 😊

The reason thinner resin takes longer to cure is because it doesn't produce as much heat. The thicker the peace the more heat it produces while it's curing and the higher the heat the faster the cure

I saw another of your videos using this same technique but don't remember if I asked this question. If I did just ignore this one. LOL I was expecting you to put the bottom (violet layer) under the UV lamp after filling the petals with resin but instead you added the blue layer of petals while the underneath was still wet. Was that just a preference decision or a reason behind it? Just curious. Love how the colors turned out. I used chalk in a lot of my old drawings but never thought about using them with resin. I really like the idea.
