So good to see bands from the Emerald Isle coming over to Great Britain to play , it should never be forgotten of the the sacrifice of the men of the UK from Great Britain and Ireland gave in the the First World War , my ancestors from England and Scotland fought alongside these proud Irishmen

@@wor53lg50 A bodhran is more like a large tambourine minus the cymbals there are cross supports across the back which the player uses to hold it while it is struck with a double ended drum stick or tipper with the other hand, it can also be struck with the heel of the hand. The Lambeg is much larger that a traditional bass drum, the drum sticks down have balls on the end, they are more like canes which strike the skin. Lambeg drums are not usually accompanied by other drums or flutes, in some counties they perform solo or in a duo accompanied by a few fifers (which I enjoy as it kind of makes sense to the rhythm of the drums) other counties have they play solo which I'm not to keen on as it just sounds like a rattle and I can't get the tune, there again I'm not that musical. It's those counties traditions if the Lambeg is accompanied by fifes or not.

I agree. Music well played is worth listening to and this band is pretty good. I was a soldier many years ago married to a woman from East Belfast so got to experience the culture at first hand. What they didn't know though was that I also liked the old Irish rebel songs too! Couldn't really play Kevin Barry in that part of town or The Wearing Of The Green in Aldershot. I like the Orange songs aswell... it's all part of the culture and history for me. May the whole of Ireland be blessed with peace and the people of all backgrounds live in harmony. Life is much too short to be fighting each other!
