"Wit”, which won the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for drama, comes to Burlington thanks to another woman named Vivian - Vivian Jordan, a Shelburne resident who plays the lead role and whose profession merges the performing arts with the medical arts. Jordan works at the hospital as a “standardized patient,” which means she acts out roles for medical students learning how to diagnose illnesses. It brings awareness of end-of-life issues and spark discussion on the complex nature of dying in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play. For more info please visit: www.uvm.edu/medicine/?Page=ne...

We just finished studying this play in English 30 IB and I have to say this is by far one of my favorite texts I've ever studied. The sheer amount of pain and character that its encapsulated. It's so fantastic.

When I first read the play, many years ago, I imagined her as Leonard’s mom. I hadn’t seen TBBT yet, but it just happened.

Fabulous. It depicts perfectly of what it's like to lose one's dignity, to push through unimaginable pain, to live life in Dr's offices, having tests run & being hospitalized. I know what this is like all too well. I know what it's like to learn how to live while suffering. And yes, I even know what it's like to have spiritual questions & debates with myself, I love the complexities about this brought forth in this play. My circumstances are different than hers, different diagnoses, but same consequences. I know what this is like so well that at about halfway through this play my heart feels heavy, my breathing becomes a bit tight & the tears form bcuz I know what this is like.

I wonder if the lady in the front row at the 15 min mark was dabbing her eye, remembering the movie. Tears already streaming my cheeks. My absolute favorite performances.

I thought Jay Rubin’s translations of Murakami was too good to be a mere translation. Murakami speaks perfect English and the English is likely to be the original, as books such the Three-Body Problem. Why think just because someone has a “Chinese” name or Japanese name or an “Asia” face they must only speak their own “Asian” language? National pride of another nation?

Some of them only have a large intestine and no complex digestive system. They are similar to that “baboon” like creature you see on the wall of Dark Pictures House of the Ashes. In the temple there is a carving of an ape like creature but with a snake as a lower section of its intestines and nothing else.

Pathogens and insects and dark matter and rabid predators copulate endlessly when they sense demise. Neither male nor male. Rotting inside but still want to copulate. A professor. A higher up. One in high position. One who can give you an A can get you into Harvard as long as you copulate with him.

Harry Potter you have read were efforts to help these old children have a normal life but they cannot. They must have drama. Drama queens. No beginning no need to end this way. Catholicism sought to address this extramarital problem and overbreeding of dark children from the wrong side and thrown away at birth.
