Here is a jazz lick I borrowed and made it my own from one of the great jazz drummers out there.
I first heard it from Tony Williams in the tune "seven steps to heaven".
I approach it like playing a fast jazz ride pattern with both hands. The hi-hat is not on the downbeat, but on the last 16th note before the next downbeat. To practice it slow play the hi-hat on + and the triplets (1 ta ta...) on snare and ride. + 1 ta ta + 2 ta ta + 3 ta ta + 4 ta ta when you play it faster you count in 16th
1 e + du 2 e + du 3 e + du 4 e + du play the hi-hat on "du" and the snare and ride on 1 e + 2 e + 3 e + 4 e +

What is the ride on your right?? That thing sounds amazing, even with the sub-par sound quality.

I have a question, how do you approach to play this lick? I think your grouping into 2's and 3's(correct me if im wrong) but i'm not exactly sure.

@uwepetersen So it's basically the same pattern on both the ride and the snare? Dude I really like you and your drumming style! Please answer the bass drum question that's on another video, if you haven't already... hehe You're probably busy making money on a tour or gig... :))
