Unknown to us on the day, due to a broken old Range Rover (typical), our V10 Touareg was also asked to go head to head with this VERY kitted out 2017 Land Rover Discovery 5!
But how did our old VW get on against this £100K+ new Discovery!

The Touareg is 596 lbs heavier than Discovery, anyway both are great cars but definetly i’ll choose the v10 monster touareg. 😈💪

Good fun but CarWow are never going to win any prizes for scientific integrity. I suspect the winner is decided before the start 😃😃. Should get together with the Disco for a day's greenlaning as the owner seems up for it.

The disco didn't win the first one, the dipstick driving the touareg didn't go. I don't see how the toureg lost the rock bed or the uphill since each car looked the same on both.

The one that pulled the truck is a different Amarok. We've got too many around here 😂 But the one Carwow borrowed is straight piped yeah!

Treg’s disadvantage is much wider tires than required. Wider tires has less grip while off roading. Just seems beefy but useless. Try 245mm then see the difference. Disco doesn’t have chance against Treg then. Because it is much heavier. But Disco’s tire setup is correct, even huge weight difference Disco rocking. Hill descent on Treg: low mod + Manuel 1st gear, it seems like car wov guy put 2nd gear.

@@ceysin7895 no it’s not no suv commonly sold in the uk is close to 3.5t mate. Because 3.5t is the maximum legal weight in the uk including 7 passengers and cargo. The disco weighs 2.35t and the Touareg weighs 2.6t.

That's stock weight, with no modifications. The discovery has a lot of weight added in with the tent/kitchen in the back etc, making it 3.5ton
