This week, I explore more of the Tennessee mountains while working my way north through torrential rain. The Jeep gets some minor maintenance as I dig deep to find the source of some strange noises. Aimless wandering in Jefferson National Forest delivers a picturesque mountaintop destination, and the week wraps up with a visit to Blue Ridge Overland Gear.

As a chef and Jeep enthusiast, I pay attention to your admittedly poor cooking skills. 2 tips: never start cooking anything in a cold pan that isn't water (eggs especially) always heat it up first, & your spaghetti would taste better if you brought your sauce to a quick boil (it unleashes the herbs) before you put it on the pasta (or even just toss it together in a medium-hot pan). I love your channel, just want you to enjoy camp food a bit more. Jeep On Brother!

I just shake my head at him cracking eggs into a cold pan....some of the best editing and vids on camping on the internet but also ranks as the worst cook...eating a spam sandwich and saying "this is really good" in another vid almost made me throw-up in my mouth. I'm starting to think he does the bad cooking thing on purpose to add to the vids...it is entertaining...in a weird way.

Oh yeah, and heating the sauce also lets you customize it. You could add hamburger to it (brown it & drain it first then add sauce and let it simmer together) Add onion, black olives, garlic, whatever you want. Even just a dash of store bought chipolte powder (or any other of the many seasonings) can really change the flavor and wake up a sauce.

Hello Chris! since I caught up on your vid's, at least for the last couple of years, it's been tough not seeing anything until Friday! Eager to see your winch and compressor set up maybe some more driving and pencil and wide-angle beam lights for those late arrival nights... Oh and maybe some side floods for setting up camp and you have a battery system (from May 5 -12 2017 posting) and don't know about high amperage alternator to keep things charged! Ok, maybe I'm getting too carried away but... once again we adventure vicariously through you!

Pro tip: put a clean rag in the air inlet hose to the engine whenever doing work on the airbox. This stops particles like mud accidentally ending up in the engine.

I have both of those items, in black, in my JK. My wife is very happy with the grab bar bag. It doesn’t get in her way and is a handy place for things on a trip. I have the visor cover on the driver side and it has proven extremely useful for my park pass, and miscellaneous papers and documents. On the loops I keep an old school tire gauge for a quick check, a pocket knife with a clip, etc. Hope you find yours as helpful as I have.

I just looked into purchasing a lifetime annual pass for seniors and it would cost me $90 buying online; $80 for the pass and $10 online fee. I winced at first but then realized the savings over the years in entrance and camping fees as you pointed out in this vlog, the savings on your $12/night campsite. An annual senior pass is $20...may as well buy the lifetime pass. Anyone who bought the lifetime pass prior to August 2017 will be grandfathered in with no additional costs. I wish I had bought one before then when it was $10. I bought a Virginia annual pass for its state parks and that was $36. Anyway, Chris, I am on a venture4wd binge this morning with a great cup of Juan Valdez coffee. You know, you've become one of my You Tube heroes and I'm not into hero worship at my age (72); however, I feel as though there's a kindred spirit type thing. I've been an explorer since age 10. I tried college after high school but was bored. I joined the military and right out of tech school they shipped me overseas and I was fortunate to live and work abroad 16 of my 23 years on active duty. I got to explore on five continents. I miss that life terribly. Now I sit at my desktop and live vicariously through your (and others) adventures. Occasionally I steal away from home (caregiver) to have an adventure near home. Keep doing what you do so well.

Again, let me tell you about my One Pan Spaghetti by cooking your meat first in the pan, draining the excess grease then putting in your sauce and bring that to a simmer. Add a little water and place your pasta in. I use elbows because they are easy to carry and eat. Cover and simmer for about 8-12 minutes or until the pasta is soft. Now serve and eat. One pan, less cleanup!
