Own a Ecoboost 2019 and is a damn fast car. Have driven the V8 and the choice for the ecoboost was purely because was heaps lighter and the possibility for tuning and power increase for well over 400 horses without paying much plus no any extras for Rego or insurance as V8 owners get hit with tones of extra money for its Rego and insurance. And sounds pretty damn good. I still love the sound of the V8 however.

ive got a 2016 GT which i sold for a bullitt which was a amazing upgrade constant pops and bangs on down shifts! ordered a velocity blue RSPEC should get it in april hope the exhaust sounds as good

People know the R-Spec could've caught the EcoBoost if it wanted to, right? The EcoBoost makes 310 horsepower, the R-Spec makes 700.

The suspension in the GT and R-Spec is different too. Some of you sound like the salesman at the dealer trying to sell you an ecoboost based on torque numbers. Let me tell you, I have a GT and every ecoboost that tries to run me gets hurt feelings because they were sold on something it is not.

anyone taking this seriously needs to realize that on a track like mount panorama the vast horsepower difference between the v8s and the ecoboost grossly outpaces any weight differences between the models. and really the what the ecoboost saves on weight it loses in a very significant torque and power gain. but barring that, I don't think any of them was driving to win or overtake. it's a promotional event.

They are great cars. Tons of power to be made with just some bolt ons and a turbo. Mine is just about 400BHP and I’m thinking of adding methanol port injection. It’s so hot in Florida that meth looks like the best was of keeping inlet air temps down.

These ecoboost mustangs are no joke, i own a 2017 manual one and its plenty quick, yes the gt is faster but an ecoboost would leave a gt on a windy track they are lighter on the nose and handle better, but it would be great to have gt just for the sound of v8 👍👍

2020 Shelby GT500 carbon fiber track version is expensive here in America costing around 110k. It has a DCT transmission with 760hp and does 10.5s and 10.6s in the quarter mile.

Wouldn't meet the required emissions standards. Would have needed a full redesign which would be expensive. What it really needs is the Ecoboost V6.

The 4 cylinder turbo was given a head start because everyone expected it to get caught yet it confounded everyone and stayed out in front. The turbo probably had the advantage over the top and then the long straight was downhill so that didn't give the advantage back to the V8's sufficiently for them to catch back up.

In fairness V8's have been slower than a good 6 or 4 for a long time now --- if you want to win races, go for a turbo 6. If you want an amazing sound and feel like a jet plane taking off when you plant your foot: get a V8.

Actually you are wrong too. It's a Pony car, a term coined back in the laye 60s to denote a vehicle based on a ligher weight chassis designed for Trans Am racing. Mustang, Challenger(back in the 60s and 70s), the Barracuda, and the Camaro were all pony cars. Muscle cars were full sized cars with a large engine fitted to it.

Well if you were to swap to the 2.0l block and go big turbo, you could get it up to a safe ~600hp. Stock 2.3l block can't handle more than 450hp

Why is this a disappointment? It's nothing new, the Gen6 Ecoboost Mustang came out in 2015 and a tuned one can be just as quick as it's 5 litre brother

So there goes all the sales for the super snake which a australian Mustang conversions do, so if you want a right hand drive GT350 or a GT500, which has over 700HP, then you can only get it at the conversion place ,so the new R spec is cheaper and right hand drive and basically taking it to holden, as FORD said they are not building cars anymore, maybe Holden of HSC will take it to the stng with the new Mid engine Vette and i cant wait because they bring it out in right hand drive from chevy and no conversions other than the Emission issues they would require to suit australia's regs also at just over 60K US, maybe in australia it would be just under 85K to get the sales figures up, going through HSV. :) Australia is a V8 country and not a 4 or even a 6, its about the sound and power full stop ?

Well the supra is going to be nearly 100k aud and in US its 54k so I dont think your conversions quite stack up.

@@gazzarafalemozzy4766 nooo? really? haha they gave him a head start and he maintained it all the way to end of conrod straight where he miraculously lost 7 second lead in the space of 3 corners haha. Of course the GT should beat it. Being i'd guess 30km/h faster at the end of the 2 long straights but a bit slower through the twisties over the mountain. It's not really comparable though. GT has MUCH greater gear, only benefit the eco has is weight. Give it magnaride and brembos and a decent intercooler on stock tune then do it again. #spankcity

I'm a Ford guy... but just as the Opel Insignia is no Commodore, that so called Mustang is no Mustang. Only thing I can say... is at least the real street Mustang can be bought with a V8... can't say the same about the Insignia. This form of racing is dying in any case... I would rather watch cars twice as slow if they were actually cars I could buy on Monday.

Ford can do whatever they want with the mustang platform, including making it with a turbo 4. Its been around before, too. Google SVO. You can dislike it all you want, it wont stop being a MUSTANG.

not when they put DJ in the fastest car of the three and he spent 70% of the lap directly behind the standard GT which is slower yet they still caught the ecoboost at the end add the fact he hasnt raced compeitively since 2001 personally i think these speed comparisons are flawed, giving the slow cars a head start and let the faster cars catch up a true speed comparison would be let them all go at the same time and witness the gap increase
