To be fair the Durango Hellcat owners are really upset because Dodge claimed it was a single year run (like the Demon) and then decided to make more which caused the values to plummet. I don’t think anyone is really mad they made it again for 2023 (and likely 2024) but if they were upfront about their plans to make more years I don’t think they would have sold half as many DDHCs as they did in 2021. Feels a bit deceptive / bait and switch. lawsuits are happening

I personally worked at a Dodge dealership and about 2 months ago the representatives from Dodge came in to have a meeting letting everyone know how it will go and one thing that grabbed my attention was that they is that they said as of Jan 1 2024 it will be completely illegal to build their V8 engines. I didn't believe they were going to go either but after hearing that i am very unsure.

Youre wrong. The V8 will continue with some trucks, and possibly two more years of the TRX. The plant is being retooled, and unions are renegotiating their new positions. V8 components arent even being made, and only current stock is being used for the 23 models. If you want to hope, sure...go ahead. We all saw that exact line of text, but factories shutting down and CARB and CAFE certifications being denied also mean these engines will never be on a car again. People supposedly want EVs, even those that have no possible way of charging them living in high rises.

Just ordered a Jailbreak last week, Torred, Dual gunmetal stripes, Demonic Red interior, Standard spoiler (I like SRT and Hellcat emblem) No Sunroof, Harmon Kardan sound. I actually think the L cars will live on for another 3-5 years while they are making the full move to EV. It would make no sense to develop a new car from the ground up using the Hemi and Hellcats for 5 years. But... It will be based on the Hurricane V6 Turbo engines and be refreshed. Newer interiors, grills, tails, lights, ect.

Fair assessment, but the Hellcat V8 is going away in the Challenger and Charger (it will live on in the TRX for 2024). They don't have to go Full-EV. They have already announced 500 hp variants of TT V6 engines. Folks, if you want a last model year Hellcat/Redeye V8 in the Challenger/Charger "2023" is it,. If ANY are sold as 24 models it will be due to late production carry over. Dodge isnt investing all of this marketing money for no reason. They don't struggle to sell Hellcats...at all.

Dodge is moving away from the formula that brought them success. People say that the muscle cars were a small percentage (20%). The innovation they put into these Cars made the rest of their vehicles successful. They need to feel it in their bank accounts. I've bought Dodge exclusively for 12 years now. No more. Selling my Scat WB and buying a GT500. A shame. But I won't be loyal to a brand that doesn't want to be loyal to me. It's been fun, but there are consequences to decisions. Everyone I know who owns Dodge feels exactly the same way. So we'll let all the part timers go get the new 'shiny'. Whether that be EV or Inline 6's. We'll stay with the muscle...wherever it is.

Its not Dodge, or Stellantis.... Its Joe Biden (or whoever tells him what to say and do), the Democrats and anti-oil globalists. If Dodge/Stellantis says anything, the parent company will be blacklisted/boycotted. They won't be able to offer bonds, they won't be able to borrow money or get a line of credit.

I certainly think the marketing that this is "the end" has some shenanigans around it. Their wording is so vague. As I understand, it was similar back in the 60s with the convertible. Companies said it was the last year because of impending roll-over regulations that never actually happened.

Guy, they're replacing the v8s with hurricane i6 engines. They don't have all these challengers and chargers in their factories. There is plenty of people still waiting for their 2022 orders. I appreciate your personal opinion but the challenger itself is for sure gone after 2023.

These aren't $118k USD. They start at $89k and fully loaded out are around $100k. THe HEMI's are iron block dinosaurs that are awesome but antiquated technology. They will be going V6 turbo and electric. These are legends. I could be wrong but if they have so many left why do you have to wait 8 months to get one built?

This isn't some V8. These are something called" supercharged". Those are two vastly inordinate uncanny variations of akin to six or ten oddly tameful shiny slavish distinct chopped up motor component drive shift shaft motors slapped together to make one. Super charged. It's so insane it's so gutteral. It should akin to a Lamborghini. So the logo. Umm. Nevermind. It" Hellcat logo car, red eye ". It's also a tiresome task I bet. How loud is that at low driving speeds. Hmmm. I bet not as loud as it should be for everyone. I bet it's about who looks in various windy (non winded places) probably as if time stills, or sticks so that high speed is ready in sight. High speed isn't for local roads,.so eye sight is good only to make sure you don't hit something..a highway is different as you can hope almost 53 percent that no slowing or stopping will occur. That car should get Tesla acceleration. Does it? I didn't watch the video

They have no choice anymore, 2024 CAFE standards are going to be nuts as they get ramped up to 50mpg by ‘26. Considering Biden is in office into 2025 at least, along with Bootyjudge who enacted the policy, that kills any chance of repeal until 2026… by which point, it will be too late to revive these cars. Maybe SUVs with high margins will live on and overcome carbon credits, but even Camaro (not even a refresh) and Mustang (only a refresh) have been let to die on the vine due to this. We might have a GT500 limited production for one final year, then that’ll be it. HEMI cars are done, DOA. Even if they started development already, there’s no point in finishing.

That will be great for the buyer, but it’s telling that the Mustang update is much like the New Edge revision: same bones, same guts, a fresh look, and some tweaks. Rather than using the CD6 architecture, the S550 mostly carries on, and this minimizes fixed costs and necessary production run duration. Perhaps because they saw the writing on the wall before CAFE was ever frozen by the SAFE cars rule. Then there’s GM, which has hardly even poked at the Camaro’s setup since ‘16. The paradox of this problem relates to the volume issue you pointed out-EVs are made of scarce inputs-and to equip V8s in large quantities, the EVs will need to be ramped up even faster to compensate. It is a tricky tightrope to walk, and I don’t think that it’s going to be a profitable one for most carmakers in coming years. IIRC Stellantis spent billions on carbon credits last year, up steeply, and for instance it takes 4 Taycan sales to build one GT3 in EU (emissions-wise). A $40-60k Challenger probably won’t have the margins to justify these increasing fees. It will be interesting to see how long S650 sticks around (and if it is joined by new competitors somehow), and I look forward to seeing your impressions. Going to be an improvement on a very rapid car and hopefully will stick around.

@@DetektiveKevo Ding. That is what most do not realize about Dodge, they do not have any cars like this that sell in volumes like Ford and Chevy. That is also the purpose of the new Hornet. If that can catch on they can put out fun cars with slightly worse MPGs. Some people just do not get it, but yet they have a KZfaq channel. Oh the days in which we live.

But Dodge also announce that they’re going to be retooling the factory to get ready for the Evies and others and that’s the big thing when a car manufacturer gets rid of all the equipment to make the challenger and charger cars and re-tools for the EV cars there’s no coming back from that the amount that it cost to re-till the factory is astronomical once you get rid of all the machines there’s no coming back from that

I have nothing personally agains ice cars but I completely am flummoxed by enthusiasts desire to make themselves deaf with defeated muffling devices despite most people finding loud cars and bikes obnoxious. Like it sounds good as it is, why turn it up so loud that the entire neighborhood has to stop what they are doing while you go by.
