Looks to be Arts & Crafts era house especially as 1912 is on the drain pipe. The breeze block at the front is architectural vandalism. This must have been a stunning home in its heyday.

I think that house was probably built in the Arts & Crafts period, when they were into beauty, nature & wood in their architecture, roughly between the late 1800’s & early 1900’s. But could possibly be the Pugin era roughly mid 1800’s when they were into gothic revival which would account for the long internal wooden hallway looking onto the garden. I’d still plump for Arts & Crafts though. The iron pipe work outside could have been added at any time, & the date on it probably either relates to when it was cast, or the date the company that made it was established. It does look like someone started doing it up at some time and then just stopped, I wonder why? It’s a beautiful house, I wish it was mine.

What a stunner of a house , it looked very old inside , the brick walls upstairs were ancient and some of the features gave it away . Hi guys, loved the explore, wonderful house, I actually think this was built in the 1920's judging by the original bath and that green tiled fireplace. The oak lined passage is wonderful, would be interesting to know why the renovations have stalled but this would be amazing if completed. Can't think why they wanted to extend the frontage, looks pretty big already. That summerhouse was pretty unique and also those grave sized holes were very curious?
@VacantHaven
@VacantHaven Жыл бұрын
Thanks Pat it looks like it has stalled for the minute, but good potential still. I honestly didn't understand the breeze blocks, maybe as a marker before demolition? And the graves, I just hope not!

Well the original rainwater hopper is cast iron and as he said i'ts dated 1812, and certainly the timberwork to the rear of the house looks late Victorian. The timbers are original mortice and tenon, peg joints so definately earlier than "1920's".
@SantinaCrolla

@SarahGreen523

@@MrChrissy1r I agree. I noticed those details too. Plus the two Victorian era soda water dispensers in the attic. I think it was renovated in the 20s and indoor plumbing was installed as well as electrics. The light switches are very 1920. I think it was updated again over the years with newer for the time light fixtures and fire place inserts. The way the windows are positioned, interior and exterior to let in the maximum amount of light leads me to believe it was built prior to the invention of electricity.

Curious, not sure if it’s public info to know details on when the home was built owners etc. I just thought it would be so best to see if there’s any info on family that built this home.

Fantastic find guys, absolutely loved that house 👍 I think they might be going to demolish it which is such a shame as it must have been stunning and those who lived there must have been pretty rich to own that and all the land with the pool, how beautiful it must have been 😍 I'm not sure if they are graves but I know back in the early 19th century, graves were often covered by wire to stop bodysnatchers, who would often dig them up and sell them to people studying anatomy. What a gruesome thought eh 😳 Thanks guys, see you all next week 😘

12:37 I think what you see here are the foundations of another building or fountain structure that used to be there. It would’ve been stone, there’s possible footings for pillars lined up in front of this then the L in the back is a corner, the 2 facing the other direction was the doorway, then the other front wall. There’s a massive amount of stone that looks excavated from there or perhaps was the roof towards the right of the screen. There’s a stairway leading down to it from the house as well. Also possible it’s just dug out to expose the sewer and water pipes.

This looks like a work in progress. Those hillocks appear as if cattle had been grazing there in wet weather. That cement structure was probably a smokehouse.
