I did this exact thing (because a former VA employee told me to)... wrote detailed Statements in Support of Claims on the 21-4138. Detailed when conditions started, which base I was at, what treatment I received, where it was in my medical records, and how the symptoms still "significantly impair the quality of my life" and my VSO told me not to submit any personal statements because it would "overwhelm" the VA with information and I could just tell the Doc during the C&P. Reading the 38CFR and inserting the exact verbiage directly from the schedules of rating for your condition is by far the best thing you can do. You get to take your time, tell your story, and submit it for the record. Do not rely on trying to remember to tell the Doc during the C&P... because you'll forget key details.

I currently have a claim that's in front of the Judge right now (crossing fingers) but was planning on filing more claims as soon as I got news on this one and after seeing this, I just filed with the NPRC to get a copy of my in-service medical records so I can scour them for supporting information on my knees, back, and sinuses.

Great advice! It seems to apply in most anything...turn in nothing, get nothing. Even when I simply visit a doctor, I bring along my logs of blood pressure readings, glucose readings and weight logs. Although I know they should check...but I'm providing real time lapse data to them of my condition and it makes things so much easier to process, understand and approves things.

Yup. Personal statement with 8- 12 bullets and I highlight the med docs to show exactly where the med evidence supports my claim. I assume the rater will look at my FDC to deny it in a minute or review the claim in 20 mins because of a strong PS. I also assume they need X key words in records to checklist rating criteria.

You’re talking about laying everything out on your personal statement. My question is, do I need a personal statement for a disability increase if all my records are from a VA Medical Facility?

Personal statements take 10-15 minutes to make. If you can’t take the time to do one, do you really deserve the rating you think you deserve?

1) what if file secondary claim? do you think they will reevaluate you if your 7 years on a claim already? 2) What about filing a Pact Act? Would it be the same?

I recently separated 1 year ago. I have my rating, but conditions were missed as part of my claim and I was never rated for them. I want to submit a new claim to add to my rating with these conditions that were diagnosed while I was on active duty, but I'm unsure if I should submit as a primary or secondary? Thanks.

I go for a c and p next week and i got everything printed out and highlighted...its the same c and p examiner from last time and they diagnosed all but 1 of my condions...decision letter stated that they didnt see anything in my files but never said anything about the c and p exam for that condition...the condition is heavily documented in my records so i assume the Rater didnt know what to look for

VA raters are dishonest via pressure from VA itself. I guess bonuses help.

VA is so different from Social Security Disability claims. As an SSA disability claims Adjudicator we HAD to take HOURS to literally read ALL medical records & evidence!! We had to document, document, document!!!! We had to type up for EVERY CLAIM a final narrative supporting our decision to deny or approve a claim with the exact policy, regs, evidence, etc to back it up. VA is just sloppy, staff are poorly trained & very stressed due to high turnover & high volumes of claims with little to no accountability & Veterans fall through the cracks. I worked also for a very short time as VA Disability claims examiner, nope!! You really do have to do everything yourself as a veteran. The government does not want to give you a single penny. Veterans get short changed not only in the claims process but in VA medical care as well. I am a veteran, I've tried for an increase in my compensation 2x, denied even with medical evidence. My C&P exams were a complete joke!!!

Vets : Avoid these unaccredited sites.... there's a better way. All VAMC 's have a VBA "Legat Administrative Specialist" who is accredited and by law MUST help you. (For FREE). And , doesn't look gay !!!😂😂😂
