Did quite some camping touring in the 80's with a Suzuki SJ410 (1000cc!) towing a Venter trailer. I owned larger vehicles at the time but it was quite fun touring in the small Jeep once you're tuned into it.

@@GetOutGO Visited a number of "adventurous" destinations in Northern Natal (KwaZulu-Natal) like Ndumo and Hluhluwe / Umfolozi game reserves, Kosi Bay, Sodwana (could still drive on the beach and outperformed All other vehicles! ), St Lucia, Mapelane. Later on I fitted a heavy duty axle with Suzuki wheels on my Venter trailer - still have it.

@@GetOutGO Every owner of a dome tent will encounter that day when s decision is made that come hell or high water, a better alternative has to be out there, somewhere. The one thing I will add to a teardrop trailer, should I buy one, is a privacy cubicle on the opposite side of the awning so that the trailer can be exited directly into a area suitable for changing in. I suspect I might just sleep better on a proper mattress and in something where the doors can be locked from the inside.
@CasperLabuschagne
@CasperLabuschagne 5 ай бұрын
@@GetOutGO I have a suspicion that the Vagabond has (or can have) the same size wheels as the Jimny which might mean that one could potentially fit the same rims and tyres which adds a layer of backup when travelling and also presents better options for tyre rotation with potentially eight tyres available.
@GetOutGO
@GetOutGO 5 ай бұрын
@@CasperLabuschagneYes you can. They can match the Jimny PDC on the rim as well. You need to order it like that from the factory though as it needs different axle hubs obviously.

Compared it to other caravan prices yet?
@labourlawact7826
@labourlawact7826 5 ай бұрын
@GetOutGO Nope. It's just scary how expensive they've become. It's truly become a luxury to own, and not like in the old days when most families could afford it. You were even considered "poor" if you went on holiday with a caravan back in the 80's🤭 Now, I guess you're considered "wealthy" if you tow one. Thanks for the interesting video🙏🏻👍🏻

Hi Christoff Which would you choose for yourself? A Vagabond Rouge or an Edge Out?
@GetOutGO
@GetOutGO 5 ай бұрын
I haven’t used the Edge Out so can’t really say. Its GVM is 1350kg though so you need an EB license to tow it which you don’t for the 750kg Rogue. It comes with a bit more standard but is heavier and about R25k more than the Roque.

This one doesn’t look like it could handle the really rough tough that you usually tow on, I would be would be worried about the spare wheel cracking the fibreglass shell as it moves too much even on road. Teardrop campers are excellent options, but most are only suitable for on road conditions.
@GetOutGO

This seems to do fine on gravel and sand. The Outdoor Campers one has been to places like Mabua (and back). I wouldn't take it on extreme 4x4 tracks.

My wife and I have taken our Rogue on the Namakwa Eco 4x4 trail and it was great ! I tow with a Hilux but the Jimny would do it easily as the terrain isn’t that tough as long as you stay out of the thick sand on the river bank.

I don’t put pricing on any of my videos. These videos live on KZfaq for a long time so by the time you watch it the price has more than likely changed. Easiest is to check with a dealer (like Outdoor Campers).

On the older Gen3 there is a fantastic powerplant upgrade option that blows the Gen4 out of the water. so much so that you outrun a empty gen4 on uphills ect with a loaded trailer such as the vagabond roque. I have one of those, and the same hill Christoff had to gear down to 3rd I stay in 5th gear (1-1 Ratio gear) maybe 4th if I was asleep at the approach of that hill, and still have to keep an eye on my speed to not exceed the national speed limit and to tow safely. Testing quite a number of different towing options I personally think the 2 best towing combinations for the Jimny's (gen3 and gen4) in their standard form is the Moremi XLT and the Skipper Model T. both are quick setup Tent trailer and caravan that you can setup within 5 minutes. And both are Light weight (Maxing out at 500kg)

@@barendbekker4901I’ve seen the liana conversion (1800) in the gen3, think that’s awesome! Like I said though, a little turbo diesel in the Jimny would be amazing 👌
@barendbekker4901
@barendbekker4901 5 ай бұрын
@@GetOutGO You are absolutely correct. the 1800 when properly configured packs a nice punch (how the jimny should have been from the floor).. But the Turbo Diesel idea has flown around the community for years .Suzuki actually did release a gen3 diesel for a specific market with the 1.5dci that you find in the duster, np200 and others. Doing such a conversion would not be a issue, if we could get the correct gear ratio's configured (Obviously it will cost a arm and a leg to do that conversion, but some of us are just a little but nuts for these little 4x4's)
