As a member of Student Council, I agree with his sentiments. We have not done a single thing in my 2 years of student government (and that's counting before COVID-19). We put on an awesome fundraiser to help a girl with cancer, and then took off the rest of the year to "plan" prom, even thought prom is usually on the hands of the actual location hosting the event. High school student council has got to be one of the most pointless positions in the world... and if you're not the president (which I'm not) then you are essentially dirt

@robmartin4657
@robmartin4657 7 ай бұрын
@@joeypolashenski2655 It's crazy to assume that the outcome of student council can only be something as trivial as free ice cream. My school has a student council that can actually bring about change in the school and while I've been there that has included making the school site more environmentally friendly (more recycling bins, plants etc) and several fundraising events for charity. As well as things that affect students in the school, e.g. improving the quality of the canteen. They've even recently been heavily involved in a 5 year plan which sets out the future goals of the school. So as long as the student council is effective it's definitely advantageous to the school. Teachers don't always know what students need more than students do.

He kept it clean but he also said what he wanted to say. Now if he was threatening the administration and staff or he was cursing and using fowl language then yes that's wrong. But everybody has an opinion and just because you went to a certain school doesn't mean you agree with everything they did or even liked it at all. To some people graduation is sad it's an ending it's bitter sweet. But to others they look forward to graduation because they no longer have to deal with the bull shit they had to put up with when they where in school and graduation is the perfect opportunity to say screw you and not have to worry about getting expelled suspended or detention. There's a reason people who have had a history of a 2.9 GPA tend to be more successful and rich in the entrepreneurship branch than those who have decided to go so far gone into the education system.

He lied to get there...he had a pre approved speech which he used as a tool to get to a bully platform. He's a lying disgrace. Maybe he's right about his points, but lying to get there takes away his freedom. He proved he's not trustworthy and therefore correctly lost the mic.

At least maybe listen to the feedback? Are they just that strict about what you say? Like, is everyone forced to say good things about the school district area? This is just messed up, and you can't just unfairly cut off his speech. They should've listened, and take action to improve the school. Instead, they went "It's fine, he's only a high schooler after all", yeah same time you guys are trying to stop us from being depressed that we aren't smart.

Peter Butera should bring a lawsuit against the "administrator"...and the school... for the way they treated him when he delivered the Valedictorian Address. Young Peter has more intelligence...and REAL CLASS... than the mental midget who dragged him off the stage. That man does not deserve to be ALLOWED to work with kids! And whatever happened to the First Amendment? Does not that young man have the same right of Freedom of Speech as I have... or as anyone else has? The administration of that so-called "school" should hang their heads in shame!
