Valencia International Airport is located to the west of the city of Valencia, just 8 kilometers from it, between the municipalities of Manises and Quart de Poblet, which is why it is also popularly known as Valencia-Manises Airport. or Manises Airport.
Its main national destinations are the airports of Madrid-Barajas, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona-El Prat and Seville, while its main international destinations point to France (Paris), England (London) and Italy and the Netherlands, among others. The airline company Air Nostrum (franchisee of Iberia Regional) is the main airline at the airport, with a prominent base there.
The airport has a single runway with a 12/30 orientation, and is made up of two passenger terminals: the Main Terminal, which in turn consists of T1 and T2, where national and international flights operate; and the Regional Aviation Terminal, intended exclusively for regional flights. It also has a general aviation terminal and a cargo terminal.
The official opening of the aerodrome took place on March 19, 1933 and customs was declared on September 8, 1934. The first regular flight was made on September 1, 1934 with the inauguration by LAPE of the Madrid-Valencia line. Regular services were suspended at the start of the civil war, during which Manises was the base for LAPE aircraft on services with Madrid and Barcelona and head of the military air sector.
