Valentine's Day Roses for Card Design: Watercolor Tutorial

Hi guys! Today I have another fun tutorial which can be used for card designs for the coming Valentine's day, as well as other greeting cards. These roses look a bit complicated but they're actually super simple to paint! I simplified it by only painting one angle, and it'll give you the chance to repeat the process and practice while also creating a cute piece of work. Feel free to customise the colours, composition and elements to suit your preference or who you're giving it to :p Hope you guys enjoy this one. Happy painting everyone! ^_^

I just wanted to say you’re my absolute favorite artist to watch and learn from. I feel like you’re really trying to teach your viewers. I love how you have soft music that isn’t overpowering, and your commentary is always helpful. I really appreciate the time and effort you put in from showing us how to draw the images, to the color mixtures, etc. You come across as humble in your videos and I have to say that is so refreshing! I made a card for a friend using your strawberry and bee tutorial and it was way prettier than anything I could make on my own! You do a fantastic job!

I found your video of painting roses in a heart yesterday. Went to my craft room and although very uncertain about my abilities to accomplish such a joyous painting, I “ I gave it the old college try.” Although the outcome of the water color painting has no comparison to your beautiful heart of roses, I am left wanting to make my best heart of roses to share and lovingly give to my family on cards. Ive been home for 3 days now, but ive been sleeping since I made it home. I feel like the excitement of the trip allowed me to keep it together while away. I actually had 6 watercolor cards ready to go before I left on Feb 6, but forgot to send during the holiday packing. I have some WN Opera rose and need to put a 1/2 pan in my regular palette so I will use it more often. It really looks good in yours. I really like how you have your colors in half pans and just pull out what you will use for each subject, along with a mixing area. Me. I pull out 4 full sized palettes then have no room to work. See! I learn so many things from you. As always, Thank you Nia.😆🙌💓

Thats great to hear. I also jump frm step to step if I paint personally but I always try to plan out the steps for tutorials as its easier to be understood by others. But its normal I think. The more you use the medium, the more you'll understand what step you need to take. I'm also always learning new things abt watercolours 😊😊😊

Lovely work! And your artwork in general is purely amazing, I am a huge fan! ❤️❤️ I was also brainstorming on something nice to create (vday related) and I ended up doing a silhouette art picturing a couple and experimented with acrylic pouring for the very first time. I wanna soft and high quality but syntetic brush. I can't stand animal hairs.It is so hard cuz its always buckles When ı started to paint😄in my country ,there isn't some good and affordable brands .Can you recommend a couple of brands:)?

Natural hair tends to be softer so it holds more water. You can try to control the water by dabbing the excess off with tissue so your paper doesnt buckle. Synthetics are mostly snappy.. I usually use vtec, lyra or reeves (but they're nt soft brushes)
