ORO 1856 carved four foot diameter pine tree next to Spanish Shaft was cut down with axes before Caleb Rhoades was forbidden to retrieve any more gold by the new Northern Ute Indian Chief. The big pine tree was laying on the ground covering the over 100 year old 1856 carved with even older Spanish carvings with the one big ORO carving. Then in the 1970's when the new Paint Mine Road was bulldozed with hailing all of the cut down pine trees to the lumber mill, they drug the big fat and long ORO 1856 pine tree down with the other pine trees hauled off to the timber mill. Bastards wiped out our road with us having to bring in our bulldozer to repair our road. The entire history of the ORO 1856 Pine Tree Mine will be publicly revealed at the 2024 Moon Lake Gathering.

What a story, I’ve not laughed that hard in a long time, reminds me of my adventures in Wyoming, we lived there 9 years in the Star Valley, surrounded by mountains, the Caribou and the Salt River Ranges. Me a novice wannabe cowboy, never mastered the horses, thrown once landing in the only spot where there were no rocks, and some similar horse shenanigans on narrow trails, never felt better when the trail rides were over.
