Weird, tick rate has almost always been synonymous with send/receive rate or cmd/update rate. More so then being used as a metric for internal server simulation rate. I've heard internal server rates either being listed as server fps or server sim time. Furthermore there have been scenarios where update or receive rates have been higher then server sim rate, such as with Overwatch originally running at 22fps server sim, but asking clients for more often updates (60 updates) to always have the most up to date snapshot.
@zynius
@zynius 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. We've gotten used to update / command rate being the tick-rate. Maybe because CS:GO matches those values to the server tick rate automatically. It was quite common back in CS 1.6 days for community servers to run at a tick/sim rate of 1000hz even though max update/cmd rates were capped at 100. I'm quite surprised valorant's update and cmd rates are not 128.

Warzone is in desperate need for some netcode understanding. I know you did Modern Warfare already, but I can get 30ms ping in multiplayer, and 120ms in Warzone. Then you have streamers that maintain a constant 30-40ms in Warzone.. like HOW. I feel like it's a route issue as you mention.
@SoIoCreep
@SoIoCreep 3 жыл бұрын
There are netduma routers that you can set to only connect you to low ping servers. Maybe that is the reason.
@BattleNonSense
@BattleNonSense 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the Warzone servers use different datacenters than the normal multiplayer modes. Hence your ping is much higher in Warzone, which runs on servers much further away. That is the only explanation I have for this. O.o

@@BattleNonSense Could there be a routing issue that happens with Warzone servers to cause such high lag though? Gigabit Connection straight into an SB8200 doesn't improve it. My issue with Warzone is the packet loss, that I don't seem to get in any other game. According to the monitor in game I get losses of about 15%-20% very often and sometimes spikes of 70%-100%. Again, I don't have this in any other multiplayer game I play like EFT, Valorant, or Overwatch.

@MarikHavair
@MarikHavair 3 жыл бұрын
100% Hunt has the problem he mentioned after the 10min mark in his 101 video, their servers aren't completing the necessary calculations in the allotted time frame. Anecdotal evidence: Rubber-banding teleportation, being thrown into the air randomly. etc. I've literally been teleported into a building while walking alongside it before, right into that room on the West wing of Fort's North boss lair that has a window that can't be vaulted from outside North and a barricaded door South. Both were closed, unfortunately I didn't have my recording software enabled for that moment, was hilarious. Of course I make this statement as a nobody with no intimate experience in computer networking.

Recently, I have noticed that the games packet send rate is tied to the FPS of the game. When the FPS is uncapped (and you are able to achieve really high fps consistently) the packet send rate is close to the server tick rate (128), however if you cap your FPS to 60 you packet send rate would be 60. This seems to be the case as I am making this comment.

Would it be possible to update your input lag video with Valorant data? Namely if the ingame frame limiter reduces (like in OW) or increases (like in DX9 games and CS GO) input lag? Would personally like to cap fps for stability (frame time variance and CPU/GPU temps), but am unsure on the input delay it would cause. Thanks in advance for considering.
@Mas3nk0
@Mas3nk0 3 жыл бұрын
Additionally I tested the ingame frame time metric which increases when activating the ingame limiter (x2 for me), so this suggests no limit is better. Also the frame time remains quite stable with uncapped fps leading me to believe the frame time variance is acceptable, but all depends offcourse on how good/ accurate this metric is ingame.

@KaneDeitsch 3 жыл бұрын
Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't having a higher in-game FPS, even if it's higher than the refresh rate of your monitor, lower your input lag when performing actions such as shooting? Therefore, isn't it potentially a disadvantage capping your FPS when you could in fact be pumping out a much higher number? I think Linus mentioned this in a video comparing 60 v 144hz monitors when playing CSGO.

In online multiplayer games, the agressive player usually has an advantage, especially when that player has low system and network latency. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7CRfcaHl5zGoHk.html That is why you want to get the ping of all players on the server as low and equal as possible.
