Some additional Differences Between Valspar Ultra and Signature
Paint and Primer in One
Valspar Ultra and Valspar Signature are both latex acrylic paint that have primer included.
VOCs
Valspar Ultra and Signature are Greenguard Certified because they both have less than 50 grams per liter (g/l) of VOCs, which is far below the federal cap of 250 g/l
This lower VOC count means that the paints have a mild smell and are less likely to cause headaches while painting.
Drying time
Both paints take the same 30 to 60 minutes to dry. You will want to wait 2 hours before applying your second coat with both.
Both paints come in an eggshell, flat, satin, and semi-gloss finish. It just depends on how durable/glossy you want your paint to be.
Both paints also come in the same colors. Keep in mind that you don't want to mix and match Ultra with Signature though, they do not look the exact same even though you use the same color code. You can tell a difference when painting with the other line of paint.
Interior and Exterior
Valspar Ultra has an exterior line while Valspar Signature is an interior-only paint brand.
ScuffShield Technology
Valspar Signature claims ScuffShield Technology while Ultra has "Scrub Shield Technology"
ScuffShield claims to add an invisible layer while Scrub Shield just says it is more durable. I think that means Scuffshield is going to be the better protection but they are intentionally vague about the differences.
I hope this helps you pick the right paint for your job and I'll see you in the next one!!
