I saw this movie as a senior in high school with my girlfriend who pretty much dragged me to it. She loved the books and I barely knew anything about them. I just stared at her during this entire scene.

I read the books way back in high school, but I don't remember it being Jealousy. Just that Edward protecting Bella made it a great "hunt" for James, don't remember him particularly wanting Bella outside of that (other than just being another human to kill)

Fun fact: the Cullens are actually the second largest vampire coven on Earth after the Volturi, unless you count the occasional newborn army. Laurent is surprised here because most vampires he's ever met are nomadic, rarely staying in one location for long due to their feeding habits - people around them tend to notice all the disappearances and mangled corpses.
