The artist seems a bit nervous in front of camera, yet he delivered everything with passion and intensity, which is fascinating.

Yeah, for sure!. I'm not a potter or a ceramist myself. But now I really like the idea of being one after seeing this. Fabulous.

@@sail2byzantium Do it!!! Life is waaay too short not to!! I’m not sure which country you’re in but there are so many great places to try it out!! From ceramics classes to cafes where you can create your own pieces and have coffee and a snack while you do it!! ☺️ My Two loves in life are pottery and books so when he said clay and words I was like Yes!!!🙌🤣

I am very interested in his early emphasis on how uncomfortable his stool is to throw at the wheel. It seems to be an integral part of his process, like a more comfortable seat would somehow be a detrimental thing.

I loved this blog, but hated that horrible music which drowns Mr de Waals lovely soft voice. What a talented artist he is. Long live creativity.

I do so agree that the background sounds are intensely irritating. Very difficult for those with hearing problems and irritating for the rest of us. Please stop adding background sounds to what are always such interesting talks.

Spoilt by a VERY annoying constant background music, if you can call it music !

Why is it that a plate with words copied from a book makes people pay a lot of money for them? I see a plate that is thin enough you can see words through it. That is an art piece worth money. Art comes in all forms. It is the buyer that makes the artist famous. It is the artist that makes the buyer want it so bad that they pay a lot of money for it.

As it's artistic to leave it at 400 likes I have liked (still do) but than bringing it back to it's artistic score 400 . Don't want to ruin it by turning it to 4001

This kind of art is gimmicky…it’s like who can be the weirdest …as a sort of compensation for the lack of refinement..so they focus on the gimmick..

It is difficult to judge from a short video. I suggested reading his books in which you will find depth, intelligence, historical context as well as his longstanding experience in/relationship to Japan and Japanese ceramics which is anything but gimmicky. Mr. DeWaal requires compensation for nothing. I suggest reading about wabi sabi as well.
