We need more low roof van build videos! Not everyone can afford the high top. Thank you for this. Now I just need to see some indoor showers in low tops to see how viable that is.

If you want a higher top on a budget look at the Chevy Express 1500 conversion vans. I got a '98 with low miles earlier this year for $4000 and its a perfect size.

This is the best I have seen. So professional! I think maybe a cabinet could be above the sink for food storage.
@forayconcept33893 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback and kudos Letha! A cabinet could definitely go in that area, especially since it's not in an area to hit one's head. Although it is nice to leave that line of sight open when in the drivers seat so you can be checking for blind spots. Always a give a take with these!!

Beautiful wood work! Nice job! -- on the pull up tray on the side of your cabinet, I put a backing piece on mine, and a 1x3 leg that drops down, with a padding. and that way, when you pull up the - useable top, for a stove or such, you got a real secure support! Liked it when you mentioned the cubby hole to pull yourself up! I am working on that problem right now! My health deteriated and I don't have my balance, and strength to do what I use to do. One other thing I just did today, I wanted more floor space by my door. So I put a 3/4" Ply piece on the bottom of the door. Then put 2 heavy duty brackets on that , with a - like a shelf on that which is even with the floor, and now I have that for setting my chair on, as before it would go into the well/ step! Keep it up! Like your work! Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the feedback and info on your van. The table that I showed ended up not being stout enough for the client so I reengineered it to use some locking arms. Further, the client wanted to have a place to set up her stove at the back of the van so we made a drop down table out back as well. Always evolving the design as it sounds like you are as well. Keep it up!!

@@forayconcept3389 Never have I seen a Van like mine, super rare I think. Most Dodge campers are the 250. So ya to keep it alive is something, already had the motor rebuilt at $4000. Be great when it's done. Maybe I can show it sometime!!! Cheers 🍻

All the years I’ve been watching these van builds I’ve never come across yours. Just subscribed. Beautiful job. I’m amazed at these much older vans with so many miles being built out. I’m shopping now for a used van, and see tons of Eseries out there running into 300,000 miles!😲 So, May end up with one myself, don’t like V8 gas consumption but looking more for a GMC Savannah or Express. Suspension 250 or more for better weight handling. Thanks for showing your excellent work.
@forayconcept33893 жыл бұрын
Thank you Tony! Appreciate the feedback. The E series is a robust rig that is solidly engineered without any fancy trickery. You can do a lot with em!

Hi, if you don't like the v8 , it may cost you more in power and how much you can put into your buildout! So, sometimes it is a tradeoff. I downsized from a 32 ft. Class A, to a Shuttle Bus, - which I didn't finish, to a 97 E-350 1 ton cargo van, with a V-10. It had 273,000 on it when I bought it. It should go to around 425,000 miles or more. But I have the power to pull my 4 Wheel Dr. Jeep! Which is also my storage right now. When I'm parked , I can use my van or Jeep. I get about 10 MPG. Like I said, it can be a tradeoff, but everyone has different needs! Good luck, and it doesn't have to be new to last a long time! RD on the road!

You did a fantastic job with your creativity building this van out. I’m in the process of building mine, you gave me some good ideas. You mentioned a bezel around the windows, are they made of wood? I like the idea plus the clean line look. Beautiful job.
@forayconcept3389 Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much and glad there were some ideas there for ya. This was our first build so we’ve learned a lot since but still pull from this particular build often. The window surrounds were a 1/4” fiberboard. Inexpensive and easy to work with, paint out really well. Downside is they don’t hold up to moisture well so I’d suggest a 1/4” plywood over the fiberboard. Happy van building!!

Thank you so much! At the upper section it is about 20" which is just big enough to clear a full size hanger and at the lower section it is about 24" deep. The drawers are in front of the fuel filler so they aren't full depth and this void also offered a good place to run wiring behind through.

In this case the walls were tight to the metal at the window frames and approx. 1 1/2" from the metal at the bed platform.

Looks absolutely fantastic! Out of curiosity, how did you attach those nice clean panels to the van walls and keep them looking that good?
@forayconcept33893 жыл бұрын
If the wall panels are near the windows, I attached using a trim screw/washer to the CR Laurence windows that were already installed in the van. They have a fairly wide aluminum flange on the inside that is a good "flat" surface to mount the wall panels to. Otherwise I had to make blocking to go between the panels and the van walls or cabinets.

I just saw this build a bit ago and really like the way it turned out. It' simple and has a great use of color and natural wood grain. I can't quite tell what the green material is. Is it a laminate surface or just a really nice paint job? Love your work! Had to subscribe!
@forayconcept33892 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! The green is a painted wood product in most cases. Used the Rustoleum rattle cans from Home Depot, I think the color was "moss green" and if you take your time and apply 3 or more coats you can get a solid finish out of it. In some cases I rolled on a primer using a foam roller, that gave a texture to the material before applying the paint.
@WizzRacing3 жыл бұрын
Simple but functional.. As I worked on too many that have 800lbs of wood in them. Before they even put anything in it.. Which will ruin the weight distribution and wear out they suspension..Sag the rear springs from being over weight..Why I changed my E-150 to E-250 springs.. I would also mention.. You can install two Group 34 batteries under the frame. On the Passenger side, under the sliding door. They are already to wire in the factory pigtail. So you can charge them while driving or running the engine. Once the starter battery reaches 12.6 volts...Ford sells the pigtail. The connectors are just above the coolant recovery bottle. It has a gray cap on it...Fuse box is ready for the relay and fuse.. As these vans were used as Ambulances. So Ford made them ready to convert.

Roof vent and indoor shower and about 3 canbat lithium batteries and some solar panels then your all set as well as roof top solar and storage areas . Otherwise best build I have seen for a econoline without a high top

Thanks for the feedback! Crazy what is possible and also what has become available on the market since I did this build.

Thank you! It's real cozy for sure and the client has been on countless trips. I've been fortunate to see the van on occasion for minor tweaks and mods to further dial it in for her camping style.

Thank Kirk! She's left town every chance she gets. There were a few latches that needed upgrading and some tweaks to the design she wanted but otherwise it's been a great solution for her!

Great build! Subscribed! Do you also do a high top version?

Thank you! A client is bringing in a hightop in a few weeks that we will be converting. Stay tuned and you'll definitely see that on here!
