Van Build Update - We ripped the van out! Again!
Significant changes over the last few months has led to a change in direction and thus a change in layout is required. Pretty much everything but the bed has changed. More people travelling required more thinking and better use of space.
Join us to see the changes we made from the shower, to the double swivel seats, rear seats, sink, cupboards fridge, and more!

"Travel with Gary and Amika"
Welcome to the Official Travel with Gary and Amika KZfaq Channel, a father daughter combo capturing campervan style travel vlogs in and around the mountains, beaches, campsites and wild camping fully off grid.
Gary is dedicated to his daughters future and enjoys documenting her passion for life, which is apparent through Amikas constant giggling and smiles. He is well travelled having visited some 39 countries, however this quickly became difficult to continue when Amika was born. With his love for travel he wasnt going to let being a single father tie him down. When Amika was just 5 they jumped on a plane and backpacked around Romania and have since visited France and Spain twice exploring the Pyrenees mountain range.
In January 2022 Gary bought on old builders van and converted into a fully off grid tiny home on wheels with the aim of getting out and about as much as possible to see more of the world. KZfaq seemed the perfect way to documented these travels and to take a step into the world of becoming a digital nomad.
Gary and Amika both thank you for being here and hope that through their videos they can bring you a sense of adventure, a lots of laughter and with a clear message that you should never grow up and never take life too seriously!

Re your question... It has more impact on external noise transmission than it does as a thermal insulator in my experience from converting a T6.1 and an Iveco Daily LWB. Also, traditional felt carpet underlay fixed with a film of glue has similar properties and is more compliant with the variety of curved deviations on the cab floor. And, yeah, the front cab windows do lose the heat more quickly once the bulkhead is removed. Then again, the more people you have in the van, especially overnight, the more ventilation you need, so you may need to leave some vents open which will equally allow heat to escape. All the best with the remaining jobs...

Great to see you back. Look forward to seeing your van finished. I recommend you use 10mm thick plate to bolt the double seat to the floor of the van. 3mm thick is a bit to thin in the terrible event of a crash. 10mm plate will stand a better chance than 3mm plate.

Thanks. Getting there. Although not happy with may things I've done. 3mm is what the MOT regulations state for safety so went with that.

Really interesting update. Some people may qurstion making 20cm chabges but it really does nake all the difference! Fingers crossed for snow!

I'd mention all the planning and thought I gave my van design before I started, but I ended up changing things anyway without adding to my family. You might want to ask Mevi about his cab doors for insulation too?

This was exciting to hear of all of your news and major life changes. It is an exciting time. And Amika is the one constant . I know things will work out for her also. She is a great strength for you. She has had some amazing experiences already in her young life. I can’t wait for the trip to Scotland. Mery Christmas Gary. Just remember, KZfaq isnt mandatory. Living your life is. Great to hear you are now in a relationship. That deffo takes precidence over a video. The van build is looking great- specially since you said on the last one that five people will be using it from now on. The shower looks fab. I'd deffo have one in the future if ever I get my dream crafter van- though I'm pretty happy with Viv at the moment. I can feel your pain with the electrics. If it aint broke, dont move it. I only did mine cos they were done by a dodgy converter. Id have left them too if they'd been good. Viv's floor has laminate floor and I too am going to put removable carpet in her in the new year. A freezing cold weekend at Roadroamers halloween meetup made my mind on that. I'm also going to insulate and sound deaden the cab in the new year cos its the only bit I didnt do on Viv. I'm glad all is good with you now and happy the channel will continue. Yours really inspired me to get Viv in the first place. Happy Christmas and New Year to you and Amika. Van insulation: In ever space of the cab I would use closed cell foam insulation, as thick as you dare, inside the door cavity and bulkhead. Unfortunately the paper blinds don't provide much insulation value. When it is just you and Amika staying in the van I would recommend using a heavy curtain as a bulkhead, something cheap from Dunelm or similar store could do the job. Best wishes with the renovation.

Was going to suggest an under van strip for the seats. Not on top. In a Headon body needs to move. Think.

check out wandering where video he used some insulation from the dodo firm for his KIA picanto also check out Soup Classic Motoring last video How camper conversions get it wrong for some great ideas for your seats and a bulk head idea which i think is great but made hard to build i also heard that cork insulation maybe good too cannot remember where i seen it though maybe you could look in to that great to see you finally back and that you both doing well have Happy Christmas and New Year to you and Amika.

Missing you guys one month on from this episode and nothing plus whats happened to little miss sunshine, your comments about losing heat through the floor it's the other way round heat rises cold sinks reason hot air balloons rise. If you know what of the size is of the main engine battery Amozon sell thermal boxes to fit around it, some vehicle manufacturers are switching from lead acid to calcium batteries now as they have a better cold crank than lead acid from the research I have done unless the original is calcium your altenator is not suitable
