A different style of barding for a beautiful song. As much as I love Blind Guardian, I can't deny that this song is (almost) unbelievably splendid in a cappella. Bravo, Van Canto.

Just learned about this band from a friend on Second Life. Was listening to their rendition of "Final Countdown" and I spoke up. "Do they do any Celtic style music? They have the right voice for it." so he linked me to this song. Yep, perfect voice for it! This band has a fan. :)

Oh man, these guys are incredible.. I'm only finding them today for the first time and I'm so happy! My new fav band.. they even cover some of my absolute fav tunes!!!

This, and Fear of the Dark are my favorite Van Canto covers. Didn't really care for their versions of Master of Puppets and Paranoid, but I'm in love with this band. Like, holy crap these people have amazing voices that just blend perfectly together.

I love both versions of this a lot but for whatever reason the opening of this one plays in my head whenever i listen to the original.

@MeenToss Actually, Blind Guardian is one of the only bands that I believe doesn't use autotune. Hansi singing live sounds exactly the same, and even a little better, than album.

Van Canto is really addictive... and the female voice adds a plus to the song. Not that the original needs improvement, but this version is awesome too.

First of all Blind Guardian is a awesome band and the bards song is one of the best songs I have ever heard. This cover is very good :) and van canto will come to my town 2010 to the Rocktower festival in lübeck .

Coming back to Van Canto 10 years later and it still blows me away! I don't know the band well enough to identify band members, but the main guy singing has an incredible vocal range, any song he covers he is somehow able to tap into an uncanny level of impersonation What an incredibly talented group

Me too, I would never heard of Van Canto propably. I like their own stuff too, 3 Sold albums for them! We all sing along to metal songs like that from time to time but they make it sound GOOD! This must be hell to perform live.

Blind Guardian was first. Last year, they did an updated version of the song on their album, Memories of a Time To Come.

@Balc13 Not only recorded in BG's studio, but also produced by BG's Charlie Bauernfeind.. while BG's Hansi Kürsch has performed together with Van Canto on various occasions, like Wacken. Blind Guardian are quite the VC fans and this cover was probably their own idea!
