1979, I was 18, turning 19... this song was all over the radio every day. It seems like yesterday 🥺😎

Every one of Van Halen's songs are a banger - which is weird!! The greatest guitarist in the world, The greatest front-man ever, incredible singing (background vocals - bassist Michael Anthony), and super drummer (Eddie's brother Alex). What do you expect??? The best band ever!!! There will never be another bank like the Mighty Van Halen!!!!

Another fun one from Van Halen II is Beautiful Girls. And speaking of SNL skits, they happened to use this song in a classic "Schmidts Gay" beer commercial with Chris Farley & Adam Sandler, which would never get made in 2023.

This was their first big hit. It came out at the peak of disco so the dance theme really fit with the times.

This is one of their 1st hits, if not the very 1st! David Lee Roth can really hit some high notes! Too bad Eddie is gone, but they did make a major impact!

It was always the rocking, groups, that would come out with something rockin, but something (at the time being a teenager) your old fashioned, fuddy, duddy, folks, even they could dance to,..folks who grew up with Benny Goodman, Count Baise , Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, when they first started as kids,..there's a fantastic scene in the movie Mission To Mars, Tim Robbins, and Connie Nielson, who play husband and wife astronauts, are out on a EVA space walk,.outside their ship, and Robbins tells someone back in the ship, to play something, they play this, and Robbins invites his wife astronaut to dance, in space, maybe a mile above Mars, it's the most romantic image, even though you know they're not really in space, above Mars, it's just so cool, hearing Van Halen play, and a couple "trip the light fantastic " as they use to say, I swear, just so cool how music has shaped, and imprinted on us, the Human race,..I understand, I think it was astronaut Kelly? who played David Bowie' Space Oddity, correct me if I'm wrong,..just beyond fantastically wonderful, I pray, wherever we go in this universe, that we carry that, take that with us, when I was in school, they sent off Voyager, into space with music from the Beatles, and I think Elvis, and some classical, maybe Mozart?, on an LP, vinyl,..they should do it again,..but with more representation, all music, tribal music, it was sent before the 80's hit, with all the New Wave, Punk Rock, before New Jack Swing, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Hip Hop, Baby Face, Mary J., Tool, and all that came before them besides the Beatles, Elvis, and Mozart,..keep going young person,..love seeing you discover this,..Godspeed, Peace ✌

This song is my favorite VH tune. So much so that I couldn’t just listen to it, I had to learn it. Note for note and it’s more fun to play than just listen. To be able to do what Eddie is doing in the song is so exhilarating.
