Jacob is hands down, the greatest Van Halen cover guitarist, in the world 🌎. And, its not even close. He is the only 🎸 guitarist in the world 🌍 who's qualified to play all Eds songs live on stage, for a massive tribute show, for Ed, and, for, Van Halen. He's the only person in the world 🌍 who should be considered. Nobody wants to tackle Eds Catalog, live on stage with Dave, Sammy, Alex, Mikey, and Wolfie. Superb playing and tone

I enjoyed this…Many years ago I was driven to buy my H9 to get the de-tune chorus Harmonizer sound from this song and the album as a whole and it did not disappoint. Eddie played it on the ‘58 Flying V, so no whammy bar on it. I use my reissue ‘58 V and “Girl Gone Bad” just feels as it should, just like “Drop Dead Legs” and “Hot For Teacher”. But “GGB” is easily one of my top three Van Halen songs. The drum/guitar riff took me a while to figure out a picking pattern for. I don’t think Eddie’s was 100% consistent, but I came up with a repeatable way to get close to what he actually did live and on the album. The solo is one of my favorites, especially the long Holdsworth style lines in it. Great job as usual Jacob!

best homecooked version I've seen!

I found Van Halen's 1984 cassette tape behind a bowling alley in a MN city called New Hope when I was twelve or so years old trying to smoke a cigarette. Everything on that record is awesome, but Girl gone bad blew my mind and to this day that tone.. there is nothing like it. The phrasing and chordal note choices are sublime, transcending all flavors of minors and majors. I have always wanted to find out how to get that sound, and I realized I needed a plexi to do that.. but its the wet dry wet rig that really gets it. Still.. all the best tone in the world means nothing if you ain't got the chops.. and you got the chops, no doubt! I don't think anybody writes songs like that with that kind of chordal structure anymore. And it's not just Eddie obviously.. his groove is its own thing, but then so is Alex. They really had just the most unique way of combing tones, phrases, and rhythms. Thanks for posting this video. Never heard anyone play it so closely with the same fire Ed had, but you've got it. You've got it!
