Eddie gets all the talk but Alex's drums on this album are perfection! Not to mention Michael Anthony's voice complimenting Dave. It's such a signature sound.

Such a cool song...And a curve pitch for Van Halen. Also the fact that "I'll Wait" featured writing contributions from Michael McDonald gives the song a different kind of feel. Eddie and the crew were def. swinging for something out of the norm for them.

After the album Diver Down, all of us H.S. kids were terrified VH was gone forever and that's why 1984 was one of the most anticipated albums ever. When Jump was the first song released from the album we were like Yikes! Luckily the rest of the album turned to be terrific...

What The Beatles were to the 60’s, Led Zeppelin was to the 70”s, and Van Halen brought us into the rock of the 80”s. No hair bands, punk or new wave…ROCK!ING in the 80’s and then Aerosmith returned for 90’s ROCK. In my opinion… Then came 90”s Grunge, which is a whole new genre. Love listening to La and Che. I remember it like it's yesterday. The year is 1984, I'm sitting in the dark with nothing but the glow from my Sony stereo system, listening to this album (vinyl that is) with headphones. I swear I can still smell the stereo system when I hear these songs. It was a great time to be alive.

I grew up with this album and it was my introduction to the band before I delved into their catalog. I remember a lot of long time fans were freaked out about all the keyboards that had never been found on the previous albums, at least not to this extent, but I loved this album and it’s their last one with Roth before they made a major change with Hagar. A lot of fans weren’t happy with that either.

GREAT reaction guys!!! This song has ALWAYS been my fave off of 1984! Course I loved Jump, Panama, Hot For Teacher, House of Pain, etc...but there was something about the synth vibe & darkness of this song that just jived with me (and I was 5 when my sister got this cassette - and I played the hell out of it!! Bonus points for the cover - was always drawn to the cigarette smoking angel). The drum beat, and finally Diamond Dave's delivery was pure perfection!! This song came after Hot For Teacher on the album, so it was a one-two punch of awesomeness!! This reaction made my day! Thanks. Cheers!

Written by Michael McDonald and Van Halen. Produced by Ted Templeman. 40 years 🎂 He (Templeman) called 📞 Michael McDonald to work on lyrics because David Lee Roth was stuck! 😖 The help led to a Billboard Top 40 hit! Michael Anthony played synth bass and backing synthesizers. Late Eddie van Halen played the Oberheim synth, other keyboards and guitars 🎸 including the solo. Same roles for studio 🎙 and tour. Ted Templeman produced The Doobie Brothers in addition to producing Van Halen. Thus, the easy call-up of Michael McDonald.
