Growing up I worshipped VH, I managed to finally score meet n greet tix on the 3 tour. I was going down the line shaking all their hands and saying hello. My hand was shaking so bad and my teeth were chattering when I finally met Eddie. I was nervous as hell finally meeting my idols. When I got to Michael Anthony he noticed I was losing my shit and he pulled me aside out of the line and just started talking to me like we were old friends, and it calmed me down. We talked about Sammy and going down to Cabo for the next birthday bash. He said I'll see you there! He even reached into his pocket and gave me a pick. Coolest guy ever! Most down to earth rockstar you'll ever find. I got a picture with the band and I will treasure it forever. Thanks Mike! RIP EVH

It's crazy how nice Mikey is --- literally never heard a bad thing about him in over 40 years of being a diehard Halen fan --- but I heard plenty of bad things about Eddie, Alex, Sammy, and Dave!

VH was the Greatest Band of All Time. Their first 6 albums with Dave were legendary. There is no words for how unbelievable VH was when they ruled the world. When Sammy joined the band they completely expanded and to me got even better. The brothers absolutely screwed Michael. It’s a shame because the last 20 plus years was such a damn waste! Eddie just lost his mind which unfortunately happens with geniuses. VH could have made 4-6 more studio albums with Sammy which would have been amazing. VH3 was a disaster. Now it has some very good songs on it that gets overlooked. Josephina, Fire in the Hole, Without You and Once were good songs but they were lost at that time. They dangled getting Dave back into the band with their Greatest Hits album and then it’s Gary Cherone??? ADKOT was a C+ album but once again Dave was a shell of himself. Tokyo Dome is absolutely the worst live album I have ever heard. Eddie, Alex and Wolfie’s play was stellar but Dave’s singing was atrocious! But after Sammy it was Dave is back, no wait it’s Gary Cherone, then it’s Sammy’s back but Michael is really not a band member anymore. Sammy is out again. Dave is now back with the band, Michael is officially gone and Wolfie is the new bass player. Wtf was that all about? Just a waste because as I said VH is by far the Greatest Band Ever and EVH is the Greatest Guitarist of All Time. But after 96 the band was over. The way they did Michael though was criminal!

Great to hear all the love for Women and Children First. It's my favorite VH album and notoriously underrated. Roth does his best singing on this album and Eddie found yet another gear, which, I agree, would reach an even higher plateau on Fair Warning. Alex and Michael are one of the best rhythm sections in the history of rock and roll, and the deep tracks are sublime: Fools, Take Your Whiskey Home and In a Simple Rhyme are stellar, but the one that stands out for me is Could This Be Magic, a neo-blues masterpiece that captures the freedom and joy of VH at their intimate best. VH is America's Led Zeppelin, and it was great to hear Michael Anthony, one of the coolest guys ever, talking VH history and still giving his love and respect to Edward. Great show, guys. 🍻

I totally hope Mike writes a book, just to get into how he kept his sanity all those years and kept his marriage intact. Eddie, Don and Jim should do a "6 pack" of who the most grounded guys in rock and metal are, the ones they know they could call up and have a good laugh with, have a beer with, zero pretentiousness when they're offstage (when they're on stage they have a license to be pretentious).

Mike's the best. Never has a bad word to say about anyone, no matter how poorly he was treated. VH2 is my #1 Mean Street alone puts Fair Warning in my top 3. And I love When Push Comes To Shove. Face-melting guitar solo, despite the song's mellow, laid back groove. Diver Down was the first VH album I ever heard. And I still love it to this day. I think The Fool Bug Is as good as anything that came off those first 4 albums.

Van halen II 2.van halen,1.1984. 1984 is a real classic, and so is van halen. Both sound like beginnings, 1984 is so different to before and the hagar albums have a similar sound to it.

Every time "And The Cradle Will Rock" starts playing I can picture the boom box I first heard the album on in my middle school little league dug out. The speakers had a honeycomb pattern on the speakers and all chrome dials. I remember asking if Eddie got that sound at the top of the track by recording a blow torch. Years later I learned he was using a flange pedal.

I don't normally watch this, is it the guy at the top left? Looks like he's shoving his face into the mic. There must be some kind of dB meter on his screen to show that he's distorting. This whole setup is a bad idea. Live streams have gotten way better in recent years, but there's still enough lag to cause people to talk over or interrupt eachother.

I'm too lazy to check the comments to see if someone else pointed this out already. But the riff from Top of the World is actually the outro riff from Jump. I remember reading about this in guitar magazines back in the day when For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge came out. So it's not quite as weird or special that EVH would've been jamming that riff in '83. Still cool though!

It's the old songs that kick life into the album and brings us another shot of early VH into our lives in the 2010 decade. She's the Woman, China Town, Bullethead are ones that really shine. Jump and I'll Wait simply ruin 1984 for me. Still it's better than any Van Hagar album.

I’ll add that while OU812 didn’t make my top 6, it has some of Ed’s most blistering solo moments…Source of Infection, Black and Blue, Sucker in a Three Piece…holy shit! And speaking of solos, the one in Push Comes to Shove might be my favorite one on Fair Warning. How in the hell did Ed do that shit? I couldn’t get that same feel if you put a gun to my head. EVH is a legend, plain and simple.

I liked Eddie's song "Donut City", I think the movie was called wildlife but not for sure.
