Too bad they didn't make a sequel. It was a great movie, especially with the presence of Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale beautiful and a spectacular soundtrack!!! They had the potential to make more movies...

With Dracula and Mr. Hyde dead, Frankenstein spending a life as an hermit and the Lagoon Monster removed from the final version of the movie, there's little Gothic lore left to move on.

I watched this movie so many times back in the days. I thought it didn't age well but seeing these scenes again makes me think i was wrong, it still looks so good. I wanted a sequel so much, such a shame we didn't get one, it truly deserved more praise than it had. Glad most people in the comments feel the same!

I think they thought it would flopl. That and they killed off most of the monster lore and left Frankenstein a hermit crab in those caves. Who's left for van helsing to kill? The mummy?

I never knew why Velkan bit Van Helsing now I understand why Velkan wasn't after the monster he wanted Van to kill Dracula he made the right choice

This is the movie that introduced me to the classic monster lineup. For this, I am forever grateful. I think it is a much better movie than people gave it credit for back in the dayt.

I love how smart both Van Helsing and Anna are in this particular scene. Knowing that the vampire brides need’s Frankenstein’s monster to give life to their undead offsprings. Van Helsing rides a decoy carriage filled with stakes, as bait.

@Enohadoland they actually had a script made for the sequel but i forgot who the new villain was. Since the movie bombed they scrapped the sequel. Still love the movie though.

That thumbnail is cracking me up. The looks on their faces. Fun fact: Hugh and Shuler Hensley (the Creature) were in the musical Oklahoma together. Hugh was Curly McLain and Shuler was Jud Fry.

I remember it was 2008 when I purchased the DVD from local seller and watched this movie. First time I was watching such animations/monsters and it was so cool I was mesmerized. I miss those days.

Favorite part was him jumping off and blasting the Wolf Man. Wish we could’ve gotten a longer fight but I get why they went the route they did. I really wish we could’ve a sequel exploring his history as the Archangel Gabriel and a crossover with The Mummy.

Sucks we won’t get a sequel I loved this movie as a kid I remember when I was 9 years old loving it so much I’d ask my uncle to borrow the movie all the time to show my friends/mom/ siblings Lol it got to the point where he eventually just gave it to me bc I loved it so much One of my favorite vampire/werewolf movies (cuz of Hugh Hackman van helsing badass in this movie) lol here I am at 21 years old and I still got the movie in good condition in a beat up cd case lol (disc is good though ) LOL

Ironically, it was his commitment to this movie that meant Hugh couldn't star in the 2004 Phantom of the Opera movie - so he couldn't play the Phantom because he was too busy with Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman.

I saw this movie in theater on my Birthday (2004). The twist... that Monster is in another coach is unpredictable for me... Great Soundtrack (Transylvanian horses)... One of the Best Monster Movies....

i think its an issue of practical effects vs decent cg - werewolves are hard to do well with practical effects since the move so quicky and frequently - as a result the underworld lycan models look kinda clunky and unfluid. this movie does a good job of covering the lacking cg up with distractions and lighting - allowing the cg werewolf model to be much more active on the screen without looking bad

Hollywood or Netflix is more likely to reboot this movie or do something similar than to give us a sequel, which is a damn shame. And if I recall correctly, the haunted house at Universal Studios Hollywood based on this movie is no longer there. Also a damn shame, because it was pretty great
