This video is of my first time on my Onewheel Pint. I rode at a few places and in high wind at the reservoir. I fell a few times, but I didn't get hurt.

@@mylifein75sqft87 my pint will literally go over just about anything, trust the board more, and if you fee s ketch about going over something, accelerate into the bump or whatnot and it will help get you over whatever you need. ive noticed a lot of people panic and bail early instead of trusting the board and trying to ride it out. get a little daring! promise you wont regret it, will only open up a whole new world of riding for you friend.

I did lots of off the road riding and ride lots of things out. It's when the board gets caught on the edge of the sidewalk and either stops or does something erratic that causes a crash. I wish you the best on your pint.

Congrats on the Onewheel! You picked it up quickly. 👍 If I can make a suggestion; try not turning your chest forward, ie ride much more "sideways" with your body. You get better balance and control, and long term you will save a lot of knee pain too. And practice low speed turning, at about walking speed 2 to 3 mph, try u-turns and figure 8s over and over again, as slow as you can. Slower is harder to balance so you get a lot of balance practice in a short time and your skills will jump up quickly. And jumping off with 2 feet is a really good skill to practice until you can do it with no effort and no injuries, that skill is very valuable later when things go wrong. Float safe and enjoy! 👍🤘🙂

Thanks Wiz Tom. I can't thank you enough for your advice. I practice circles and figure 8's every time I ride, so your advice is so good. I have bad balance, so when I try to ride totally sideways, I have problems. I'm going to spend a day starting and stopping and negotiations for and entire battery charge. Any more tips you can provide will be off help. I've done a little off road. Thanks for all of your advice and I'm going to try it next time.

@@mylifein75sqft87 Hi again, one tip that helped my GF was to ride on the painted lines in a car park, and practice turning around first in 2 car spaces, then try in 1 car space. Following the lines gives you something to aim for visually and you can judge your turns better. Also it helps relax you and takes your mind off the scare factor haha. It did for her, anyway. Also, try to keep a constant exact speed, during the turn, then you balance that with a constant lean angle, and it gets much easier. Problems come from changing speed in a turn, or changing lean angle in a turn. Have fun man, as your skills grow the fun goes through the roof and it becomes an amazing and relaxing experience every time you ride! Please be safe and keep your speed low, remember very low speeds is a great way to learn the balancing, high speeds dont teach you much (and the risk is much higher). Cheers! 😎🐢

Thank you for your advice. That was all great stuff. I try to mix it up all the time with speed. The most challenging thing is when I do tight 'S' turns and try to keep a constant speed while going from toe turns to heel turns. Sometimes I get push back when doing those turns. Push back on a pint is strong sometimes and makes me regain balance. I wish I could try an XR and see what the difference is with that. By the way, I have 110 miles now.

Helmet manufacture suggest you throw away a helmet once it’s been hit. Apparently the structure loses its ability to protect you. Of course, that could be away for the manufactures to sell more helmets, but we always throw them away once they’ve been used for their purpose.

That's a rock climbing helmet which is made differently than other helmets. You might be right, but I'm going to take my chances with that helmet for a while. What's the chances of getting my head in the same place twice 🙂🙂🙂🙂. I know. Usually it's my left side that gets hit. He safe.

I bought mine from a kiteboarding store in Florida where I knew the owner and they shipped it to me. That was about 3 months ago. I've been wanting to buy an XR and California is shut down now and the store in Connecticut where I have one on order isn't getting them and doesn't know when they will get them. I talk to the owner every week. Who knows when they will ship. I always wanted an XR and my friend talked me into getting Pint. The Pint is a lot of fun. I'll try the XR before I buy it. It had to be a carving machine or I'm not getting it. 🙂 I hope you get yours and be careful. Crashes hurt.

Awww so good!! You did very well!! Fast learner!! And I’m so proud of you wearing all the safety gear!! Good example for the kids out there!!! Hope all is going well up there. We r still in Florida at my Dads. Hoping to head north toward the end of the month. As long as things are still getting better. If this virus comes back in the fall worse than ever, we’ll have to hurry back down. I don’t want my 93 year old father to be alone since he refuses to come back with us. Stay well! Good to see you!

I hope you Dad stays well and hope you can get home soon. You're better off down there with all the cold weather we've been having up north. Take care and may God bless you.

Seems to me the best place to learn how to ride would be on a more forgiving surface like a grass field or when you were in Florida on the sand at the beach. Duh...
@mylifein75sqft87
@mylifein75sqft87 4 жыл бұрын
I practiced in the grass a lot. Riding in the grass is hard and has to many bumps. Using the fence was a great idea and worked well. Smooth blacktop is there easiest to balance and ride on. Sand can be soft and that might be hard to ride on too. I'll try it when I go back down there.

Thanks Barbara. In in NY now. The reservoir is the Ashokan. The mountains are the Catskills. The school is where I taught my daughter how to ride a motorcycle and is in Hurley. The wind was from the north west and was blowing real hard. By the way, I almost broke my neck a few times riding a onewheel. Thanks for commenting. I hope God blesses you.
