I have looked at various amount of recirculating shower videos and this is a well thought out and clearly explained video. I plan on building this feature into my van build when I get started. Can you please give an update, any lessons learned or modification you would make to the design after battle testing it? Thanks for help making this simple to understand and design. Job well done.

Sure, we have been using the van for over 2 years now. The system works very well. The recirculating part works well, you need to gauge how long before changing the water and filters. We can easily go 5+ days, but if water is easy to get we change it daily.... All the videos are by category at thefrugalfactor.com/ See #10 and read my notes - I am just repeating here. A few extra suggestions: 1. Use a stainless steel shower pan (not fiberglass). 2. If you don't put in a full rubber/plastic floor like I did, then be sure to put your filters in a pan, so that the little bit of water that spills is not absorbed by your floor. I am always concerned about mold growth. I have never had a problem, but have seen entire vans ruined by mold. 3. The flexible stainless hoses, be sure they are long enough to make changing the filters easy. Also those 90 degree pex fittings make it easy to move the hoses around. 4. ONE CHANGE - I would use 3/4" pex, especially for the tank vent tube, which is under the van. A bug (mud dauber) clogged the 1/2 vent pipe and I could not get the water to drain. Took an hour to figure out that a little bit of hard mud in the end of the tube was stopping everything. I replaced the vent tube with 3/4" pex, and put a little of the stainless steel scour pad in the end. Thank YOU for the positive comment/question. We have a recirculating shower system in our bus with a propane outdoor water heater that we are having difficulty with. I have consulted a plumber be we are still having trouble, could you possibly advise us on it?

Hi, great video! What is the flow rate of this system? Is it standard shower 1.5 gpm (gallons per minute)? I'm having a hard time finding a UV filter that is 1.5-2gpm and is on 12 volt.

Great tutorial! Woud this recirculating system work similarly for a small tub in my short bus.

I don't see why not! The only thing is you would need to increase the size of the grey tank to ensure you have enough water to fill the tub. You need to be sure your tank is large enough so that you do not run out of water in the tank. If that occurs you start pumping air. The pumps I use are capable of running dry without being damaged.

Very nice explain shower system. What filter (microns)do you use before carbon filter? do you have in plan to do backwash to clean the filters that way occasionally? Thank you for sharing

200 micron works well in the spin down filter. This the to keep sand, hair, and other large particles from the other filters.

Very nice video" thank you for sharing. Are you using the same water recirculating system for a sink? Do you have an another grey water tank only for sink? what about hot water for sink?

No the sink is a separate system detailed in this video - studio.kzfaq.info6q-gEsDdDrs/edit The sinks grey tank is separate. No dedicated hot water for the sink, the show is close enough is hot water is needed - details in the video. Thank YOU for watching :-)

how do u connect the kitchen sink on the system? I would like to have hot and cold water in it too ...help ;) ur videos are pretty clear to understand

We do not have hot water at the sink. No need. No reason to turn on the hot water heater just for hot water at the sink. Other videos can answer this question in more detail: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bNddmqikqcqooqc.html

I believe I saw a comment that said that you only filled the system once during your 18 day trip with your wife. How many showers would you recommend before draining they system and refilling? Also, do you recommend certain shampoo, body wash, etc. that would be easier on the filtration system?

That is a personal choice. We really did not find a big change in the water, but still changed it. Maybe in the future I will figure out how to test the water, to ensure its safety. But right now I think the UV light is doing the job. I plan on changing the water weekly when possible. It all depends on our travels. A biodegradable soap/shampoo is best.
