Scott. Huge fan. Too the point with no fluff on your technical content. Also appreciate as a fellow Ontarian your affiliate links are Canadian. Question. I can not find the “friction” fit connectors for my grey water tanks that you mention. Maybe a video of hooking up your tanks would be awesome. Just started my build post retirement

Thanks! The friction fit connection is from Plastic Weater Tanks I think they might be called slip in fitting or something its for a 3 inch pipe if you message the chat support they should be able to help

Scott Adamson I have contacted them about the friction fit. I do have a quick question if you don’t mind. From my starting battery to a disconnect switch then to my house batteries. What gauge of wire do you suggest. I have scoured the web with no success. If you could help I would be most appreciative. Jim

Hey Scott thanks for the excellent video! I live in the Northeast and we have COLD winters. Trying to figure out how to keep grey water tank from freezing. I'd like to have the grey water inside so that it could simply drain from shower pan directly into the grey water tank as in your build. However, one problem. I'm 6 foot 5 and the ceiling in only 7 foot. Wondering if you had any ideas? Thanks!

Hey Adam, great video - thank you. When you are on the road where do you fill your tanks with fresh water? I know some National Parks water looks a bit murky when I have used their filling stations at campsites etc.

Scott this’ll be really helpful for all the DIY’rs. I think there seems to be many van builders now that may be questionable as to their knowledge. Many or most of the well known reputable companies that build vans have long waiting times now due to the popularity of Vanlife. This video gives potential customers some very useful knowledge and may help in being able to vet the Craigslist builder, and DIY vans for sale. I would love to see a future video of why you chose your van brand vs another. I’m still trying to decide what type to buy. Your last build was one of my favorites. In my mind I’m designing my dream build based on everything I see, but it’s constantly changing lol. By the time I’m actually able to build who knows what cool things will be commonplace. I really hope the recirculating showers become perfected and common. That would be a game changer. I’m looking forward to seeing more of this build. Stay safe and healthy 🚐❤️

We are using a Sprinter 3500 Dually for our conversion. I checked with Northwest Conversions and they do not currently sell a over the wheel water tank for our model. They said that their single wheel tank will fit, but placement will not effectively use the space in our opinion. This video provided very useful detail and is much appreciated. Your experience gained and sharing ideas is great as we are in the planning phase.

Hey Scott!! Just ordered the 25 gallon from Plastic Water tanks... they called to ask if we want a blank tank or their standard fitting options. Which one did you go with and why? Also- any specific tips on placement for grey water under the van for the Sprinter 144? I’ve seen some folks say they moved the spare tire from under the van to the back of the van. Would love your advice- thanks!

Yes very helpful mate... Living in the UK with cold winters, think I may need indoor tanks. Any idea what temperature they can hold water too before it's too low? Surely it will be below freezing as the plastic etc may add some protection?

It would seem to me fewer holes in any tank when possible is a good idea. Since a fresh water tank is not transferring solids, the same line can be used to fill it as is used to drain it as long as it’s being filled from a pressurized source. The drain can then be put into the lowest point of the whole system for flushing when necessary and you’re left with one less hole (and one less leak) in the fresh tank 👍

I didnt really show it in the video but lots of the ports in this tank are threaded but they are not punched through so its a solid opening and I need to use a hole saw to drill it out.

Hey Scott. Curious: Why did you decide to downsize to the 144? Also, do you have an overall step-by-step guideline on your van build (very broad strokes to get a general idea of what needs to be done early on and what strips should be taken towards the end of the build)?

@Toro-Tor Жыл бұрын
WTF ? 1. First you talk about tank-size in gallons, but then you say you have a 12 LITER blackwater-tank, which will last you about 12 days (means 1 liter a day) = Either you not flushing the toilet with water or you got leak in the system or you going behind the bushes, where you not supposed to go? An avg. person will flush about 6 times a day and if you use the water very sparingly, it would still use AT LEAST 3 liters a day. Myself, I use 15 liters water avg PER DAY to flush - going into blackwater, and my new tank-build will be 126 Liter. That is 10 times of what you're talking about, but I better go to empty it after max 6 days. If there was more space under the van, I would make the tank bigger. 2. GPM = please do yourself a big favor: put a bucket in your shower and measure exactly how much water you can put into that bucket in precisely 1 minute. = NO WAY will that be 2.5 gallons, it will be more likely a 3/4 gallon a minute at regular shower-head with full blast house-pressure. So in a van where you're running the pressure slightly lower then in a house, it'll be about a 1/2 gallon per minute and that is pretty strong pressure with a regular shower-head. The GPM which you are talking about, is the utmost maximum the pump could theoretically deliver (downhill) and the maximum that could theoretically go through the faucet before it would explode. Those are probably the specifications that you get when you buy some madeInChina-products from amazon. The low-flow type shower head is doing nothing else but throttling the actual flow of water - If you're happy to use them, well good for you. 3. @11:42 listen to yourself, you say: you are using about 22 gallons a week, you've got roughly 40 LITERS of storage ... so that means you get about 2 weeks between having to refuel. = Well I guess you are talking about US-gallons? 1 US liquid gallon = 3.785 Liter Then unfortunately your 40 Liters storage would be far to small, you would need more than double of that (22 gallons = 83 Liter) So: a) either talk "in gallons" or talk "in liters", don't get them mixed up b) do the bucket-test to see how much water really flows through the shower-head c) flush the toilet more often and don't go behind the bushes d) Call me a hater or whatever you like. - - No, I not hating you, I just want you to get the facts right and present them better (next time). BUT what I do hate, is if I read some of those numnut comments down there: "Scott this’ll be really helpful for all the DIY’rs." or "Great Content" or similar BS. Man, these people have absolutely no clue what you're talking about in the video and they obviously haven't given it any thought, else they would have notices that you slipped up. OK ?
