This is a glimpse of music at it's absolute best and he has put his entire soul in to it. There will always be a debate about this, but the music of this era will be, at best, difficult to match. There was so much passion, heart and love for the music that was being created back then. And that passion, heart and love came from those who created it and those who had the great fortune to be around to hear it and we were even more fortunate to have this as the foundation of our musical experiences during our formative and youthful years of life. True beauty.
@MissDistarr609 жыл бұрын
***** I am a child of the 60's as well. It was during our generation that music went through it's biggest change. If you think about it, Rock/pop was really in it's infancy during our generation (I'm not referring to the true origins of Rock). It was the bands of our era that created Rock "as we know it today." Like you said, today's music is a variation of what they created. They were the pioneers. They didn't have a mold or blue print to follow. They made the mold which to some degree is what is being used in todays music. The bands of today certainly have an advantage over the bands from back in the day. I don't think any other period of time will see such a massive change in music. Nor will they see the number of incredible song writers or the quality of music that came out of that era. It was music in it's original form, which had the human touch all over it. Music today seems to have lost that human touch. It's taken on a high tech touch. I'm not saying there isn't some great music out there today, but it's kind of hard to completely appreciate music that you know has been so altered. This of course is my musically uneducated opinion. So please, if anyone disagrees, which I think we can count on, by all means send your difference of opinion. But if you feel the need to include insults, please keep it to yourself, as personally, I'm so over all the nasty, hateful BS remarks we see on comment pages. If someone doesn't insult you, they deserve the same respect and that is my strong opinion on that subject. Thank you and have a great day:)

When He performed the songs from the Astral Weeks album - I just knew this man's music - like any truly great art - was going to be timeless. Forty six years later - I have the exact same opinion as I had then. Whenever I hear his music being listened to by successive generations - it puts a smile on my face knowing that his musical genius will live on. Thank you for all the wonderful memories - Mr. Van Morrison.

@George Ivan Morrison If this is indeed a reply from the estimable Van Morrison then I am indeed honoured (I know it's easy to fake profiles on KZfaq). I really hope this is from the man himself, in which case I can say that your music has been a constant in my life since St Dominic's Preview (for which I had a poster, loaned to a uni roommate and sadly never returned). May God bless and keep you. Long may you continue to produce wonderful music ( why was 'Pay the Devil' so underrated???).

I had a long distance love once upon a time. I was in Montreal. She in Calgary. One night, I played this over the phone and listened in silence. We were young. We tried. We definitely had a connection but it wasn't to be. I hope she remembers this fondly as I do.

I am so glad I grew up with the music from the last 50 years as there will never be another era as we all have experienced as this generation. What a great time when music had a purpose and meaning. It touched all of our souls in one way or another. Music is the key to life as far as I am concerned. I can't tell how much I appreciate the soul these great musicians poured out to all of us to hear and enjoy. Awesome song writers and performers of this era will last forever! Amen to all of them!

IN 69, Morrison moved to the bay area. Not known to me, Bert Berns had virtually shut him down and made it impossible for him to make a living on the east coast. To his credit, Bill Graham gave him, (as I remember), one night a week to play the old Fillmore. I was there every night for year or so. Watched the man grow in front of my eyes and ears, devleloping Moondance and His Band and Sreet Choir. Working those chops on the horn. I saw everybody, Who, Hendrix, Traffic, Zeppelin.... Nothing came close to this man's genius.

This song is like butter. So easy to hear and just lovely. Went to Mcdonalds to get a latte today to stay awake and before i could ask a man who looked homeless if i could but him something he bought me something. Listened and sang with him for 6 hours and this song came up. Was reminded that i do like music and something good i will take from it is that i can sing and i should not be so hard and critical on myself. Just wanted to share that: Thank you.

In 2003, my parents adopted a brother and sister pair of beagles. The male's name is Thibedeaux. My parents got the name for the female beagle from this song, Tupelo. Something happened to her last Friday. Whether it was a stroke or a seizure, I'll never know. Today, my parents had her put to sleep. Now, she truly is an angel of the first degree. I dedicate this song in her memory. Tupelo Jane Wassman 2003-2015 R.I.P.
