INSANE technical ability. If he could've stayed healthy, Arsenal would've won the UCL, EPL, FA Cup TREBLE with a prime Henry and Viera. RVP > Rooney.
@TMthe33rd11 ай бұрын
There's no need to bring up one player while bring down another one After all Rooney and Van Persie is two different type of striker You'll rarely find RVP track back opponents unlike Rooney And Rooney himself did not have a grace in his games like Van Persie ever had
@feynmanschwingere_mc227011 ай бұрын
@@TMthe33rd Rooney, imo, is overrated because he was lazy. At the age of 16, some Brits were calling him the English Pele. That's how highly regarded he was. Fast forward a few years and Van Nistelrooy had surpassed Rooney; fast forward and Tevez, briefly, had surpassed Rooney; fast forward and Cristiano Ronaldo had surpassed Rooney; fast forward and Robin Van Persie had surpassed Rooney. Rooney, with all that natural talent, was really never the best player on his own team - albeit a tough ask given that his teammates were Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes and legendary captains like Roy Keane. Rooney is a FANTASTIC player. BUT he's also a cautionary tale that Hard Work ALWAYS beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. What did Rooney ever do for England's national team? 🤔
@reureuthegreat10 ай бұрын
@@feynmanschwingere_mc2270 what sets rooney apart from them is his natural ability to play in various positions. if he was a no.9 for his whole career his goals would've been way more. but he was selfless and he played everywhere for the team, even as deep as CM, which few players can do now. imo the closest english player right now to wayne rooney in terms of versatility and skill is probably harry kane. to say that rooney was lazy is wrong, because he would fight for the team on the pitch like a warrior every time he played. u can't use his physique to determine that he was lazy, because clearly his body is just built like that. rooney definitely had as much hard work as he had talent, but unfortunately his selflessness cost him. in his own words, he should've been more selfish towards the later stages of his career at united, and i felt that's when his career went downhill before he eventually retired. it's a shame because he could've still been playing today, and i have no doubt that he would've still been class. also rooney was england's top scorer until harry kane surpassed him, it's not really his fault england are choke artists.
