In this video I give you a tour of my 2016 4 cylinder 144 Mercedes Benz Sprinter which I converted over the course of a year. It includes an open layout, solar, a water heater, induction cooktop, Flarespace body bump-outs, lithium batteries, outdoor shower, toilet drawer slide, tern overland windows, a safari roof rack, a shuksan bike tray, shore power, and more.

I'm also curious why you're selling. Are you working your way up to being a fulltime builder? Checkout Airhead composting toilets on your next build. They are just as good as nature's head but smaller. Speaking of which, how important is a toilet in your experience? I'm in the middle of my build and go back and forth on my thoughts to add one or not. Also, what about an inside shower? That bench seat in the front could have been tweaked to allow a hidden shower setup. Do you feel that would be worth the effort or has the outdoor shower been good to you?

Shawn, did you ever make that video of the toilet drawer system ?I’m adding this to my T@B Teardrop and need help with the slides and build out.
@shaunwilkens

I didn’t! I vented it out though the floor and used 250lb drawer slides. I’m thinking of making an aluminum drawer for the next build I do. Will keep you posted if that happens.

I’m curious if you ever got your electrical figure it out? I know you were having issues getting the full power of the van while driving.

Hey Shaun. I am really enjoying your videos. I was wondering, now that you have slept sideways in a 144 with flares, would you do it again? Or would you go with a different sleeping configuration? I am 6"3" myself and this is my biggest concern. Thank you in advance!

Been a year since your last video... are you okay? In another video, you said you uber drove... was that uber driver or ubereats? And were you doing it with van? I was ubereats driver in reg car. But i quit cause thought I'd get van for vanlife & since van mileage is insane i thought ubereats using van would just pay gas bill only. NOW i never got the van and am thinking maybe get promaster city (small but good gas mileage) and go back to ubereats. What you think? Yeah so those 3 questions. Thanks.

Thanks for checking in! I’m good. Just been on hiatus but I posted a video a few moments ago. I did Uber, Uber eats, bird, task rabbit, lyft, just about everything. Yes, i did that while living in the van. I did the lyft rental program for a while and shuffled back and forth between two vehicles. Now I feel very lucky to say I’m building vans full time. I think a promaster city or Nissan nv200 are a great idea! Go for it! Again, I appreciate you reaching out.

Where is the toilet venting out? @4:54 looks like your hose is running up?
@shaunwilkens

The toilet vents into a hose that runs through the wall and out the bottom of the van.

@@shaunwilkens Ah ic, so you did have to drill out a pretty large diameter hole in the van floor for that? (curious if anyone has figured any clever way around needing to do that haha)
@shaunwilkens
@shaunwilkens 3 жыл бұрын
I was able to find a space in the wall cavity of the van that fit the hose I was sending through and then there was a rubber cover underneath the van that I cut a hole in and passed the hose to the area underneath the van.

minute 6:48, can someone confirm my thought whether this is in fact another safety practice, preventing someone trying to get in the vehicle?

No. If they get the door open they can easily swivel the seats to get in. It would slow them down a bit, however.
