His knowledge of the Valmiki Ramayana is outstanding! How he recites from memory the Sanskrit verses. I have read twice the whole Valmiki Ramayana, two different versions by different translators. I have to say that I had to juggle around the vision of Vanars. And it was quite clear to me that Vanars were not monkeys, as he explained, they were forest dwellers. They were not tribes, because there were other tribes like the Nishads. There is a clear distinction between forest dwellers and tribes in the Ramayana. An alternative theory I came to. Maybe, also Vanars had the ability of shapeshifting like the rakshasas and asuras. Because, as stated in the Valmiki Ramayana, many of the most powerful Vanars from Kishkindha were born from Devas. As some rakshasas and asuras as well. Even some of them had supernatural powers. HanumanJi is the son of Anjani and Vayu and that story is very well explained in the Valmiki Ramayana. Anjani was never described as a female monkey. To understand many things people need to patiently read the Valmiki Ramayana.

You guys should ask, find where the bible creature was born, who his father was and why 120 years after his death, 3 different people with 3 different versions have written a book, that is blindly followed? millions have died cruelly or converted because of this character whose existence can't even be proved.

Yasodeep’s study is priceless - very logical study. One more clue is - when Valmiki talks of Vaanara wives - there is no talk of Tail. So obviously women did not wear the vaanara attires

The tail mentioned called Langulam which also means tip of the plough which used to agriculture So basically they used to tie that metal thing to trunk for defence , ornaments or may he proud courage agriculturist tribe And one more thing is still South indian men wear a rope to their trunk

I went through some of the ancient books and what i understood is when there were many different kingdoms, each kingdom had some important symbol like surya for suryavanshi , chandra for chandravanshi, similarly agni, samudra, varun and same goes for kapi where kapis or monkeys were the national symbol for those kingdom and they believed that they belonged to their respective symbols like agni, vanar etc.

The word 'Vaanara' is intriguing. It is said that it is Vaa..Narah...meaning that they are otherwise humans only. While reminding the competence and ability of Hanuman Jambavan says that Hanuman is as clever as Rama and Lakshmana and as strong as Sugreeva! Then they are humans only in Vaanara garb!

Bhakti and stories like Ramayana should be based on ones belief grounded with the values for same minded people or culture or society. But, when people like him tries to find logical and scientific explanation on each and every aspect of these epics, it soon ends up in an illogical way and we indirectly insults these epics and the belief erodes. These epics are created with a mixture of truth and fiction to deliver a strong message that transcends generations!!!! Ramayana is a very good example of this approach.... So, you can either take it or leave it, but don't research on it!!!

@@mlg1279 you are attributing current day monkeys to the monkey species of that time. they were monkeys, if they were humans then Rama killing vali in that way would be adharmic, and ravana would not have asked not to include Naras, and vanaras, as 2 distinct groups in his boon. vanaras were monkeys but evolved with human like structure and behavior, and intelligence, and societal structure, if vanaras were humans then vali and sugreevas father's origin I think would not have been possible. there are many things in Ramayana that won't make sense, if modern historians try to force vanaras to be human, to fit the modern narrative. ithihasas should be as they are, without adulteration to fit the narrative of someone else. 🙏

This is his own version, not entirely true... Vanara doesn't mean monkeys, it means forest dwellers. Also they are mostly extinct species likely Neanderthals..

I will present one of my ideas which i got by reading different ancient books and puranas. Ancient kingdoms always used some animal or element as their symbol and believed they belonged to them. Like if someone worshipped fire, then people from different kingdoms called him son of agni or son of fire. That's how suryavanshi, chandravanshi, agnivanshi, varunvanshi, samudravanshi came into existence. So by that, it is quite probable that the kingdom hanuman ji belonged to had monkeys as their symbols. So they were called monkeys. On other hand , they could somewhat neantherthals type humans , slightly different than current homo sapiens. So they were forest dwellers, strong built and clever. the vanaras, were not humans LIKE RAMA and others. They were monkeys, who were human like, with human like intelligence, and human like customs. if vanaras were humans, the Rama killing vali from a hidden location while vali was fighting with sugreev would be adharmic. another point, is in ravana's boon from brahma, he specifically said he will not ask to include NARAS, AND VANARAS, in his boon. Naras, and vanaras, 2 distinct groups. just because they know the art of transformation does not mean they are removing the monkey costume and are human.

Try reading Rāmāyanam instead of passing judgements. Vāli had asked the reason for killing him so and Shri Rāma has explained it to him, after which he told Angad to follow Shri Rāma as Rāma is Dharma incarnate.

@@JusticeAboveAll-ro3sm yea, and I am paraphrasing here, , vali himself says that they were vayam muula phala ashanaah vanacaara mrigaah [rama, we are tubers and fruits eaters, forest dwelling animals](kishkinda kanda Sarga 17, verse 30), ashanaah means posture(he took this meaning which is not appropriate meaning here because then there would be no verb explaining anything about tubers and fruits, would vali say we are tubers and fruits with posture like forest dwelling animals?!!!) but ashanah also means EATING; vali also says you who live in the city are a man are also following our animalistic nature. (also kishkinda kanda Sarga 17, verse 30) not something a fellow human would say. Rama said, you being a vanara, I did not have to follow the rules of engagement with that of fellow humans, and should follow the rules of a hunt for a non human. there by I can hunt you vali from far, from near, from behind a tree. since you do not know the dharma of your own race, and took your brother's wife while your brother is alive, you should not start talking about dharma. killing you in this manner is me following dharma. (kishkinda kanda Sarga 18, verse 38-40)

There were only 7-8 words I think in that sentence. Rama, vayam, muula, phala, ashanah, vanacaara, mrigah. Rama we are tuber and fruit eating, forest dwelling animals. I gave other examples as to Rama’s conversation with vali.

It is राम not राम् . Depending on chandas or vyakarana rule in poem or mantra it can be रामः, रामम्, रामन् etc. Proper name is रामचंद्र

I recently read the Ramayana by author Vanamali, derived majorly from the Valmiki Ramayana. Vaanaras were jungle dweller , monkey like people . They all had tails. The strength of their tail they were proud of, like people are proud of their hair. It is an ornament only in the sense they liked to groom and display it....but I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with this speakers conclusion that it is a thing they could put on like an accessory or a piece of jewellery! What a silly strange interpretation!!! . Yes, they had certain powers. This is not mentioned clearly about other vaanaras, but Hanuman ji (only as per Valmiki Ramayan as source text) could change his size to something very tiny or very large or in between. But never has he hid his tail in any episode of Ramayan, including not even when he roams in Lanka, trying to understand its layout and people. Lakshman, infact refers to Vaanaras in anger once as ( at Sugriv's ungratefulness) , a bunch of lustful ungrateful animalistic monkey people. And what a Convenient twist this author gives, with Ranveer gaping open mouthed because he can't process it fast and ask a logical counter question. Yes, some rishis had taken vaanar wives. HENCE due to a union of a Manushya (human) to a Vanara (Monkey or even other species) there resulted a offspring that was mixed. Asuras were again a race of people who were rather large and powerful compared to humans, but they were characterized by deceipt, conceit, aggression, higher engineering prowess and a more tamsic nature. Raavan was an Asura, and a Brahmin as described in Raamayan. He is also described as fair, handsome, green eyed, muscular, with reddish golden hair and very charming to women. I am still trying to fathom what is a clear distinction between an Asura and a Deva. Overall it seems like pretty similar types of human like persons but with extra powers and limbs and always at war with each other. Rakshasas, were another wild beastly species of several odd forms, but one thing they all had common was cannibalism and flesh eating. This much is explained in valmiki Ramayan. I am shocked at how this Gentleman is quoting the actual text but totally mistranslating and misinterpreting it in English OPENLY in the world's face and getting away, because the listener opposite him is just silent. Not challenging and questioning it! And 😮 I also think the gentleman is sincerely believing he is doing a right thing! Right now I am in semi shock! He doesn't look like a cunning liar! Why will he even use a silly example like "Rishis also have vaanar sons! So that means they were humans" ! Hain! How? You mean only humans could be Rishis? Rishi is = Human Race now? The word Rishi means a forest dwelling scientist personality. As the facts when taken in full context show, there were Rishis who had conjugal relationships with Vanaras, Asuras (might be even Rakshasas) , they had mixed race or mixed species off spring. Also, Rishi was a kind of occupational path taken. Not a name of a species or race!

Please....what a strange interpretation that even the scriptures do not support. And I am not a scriptural authority and actually refuse to be one because I find the lack of logic wrapped in arrogance of so called scripture experts odious. Still, if we go by classic scripture definition also, when you belong to a Vansh (closest English translation would be Clan) , you owe allegiance to a Clan's personal favoured God or Deity. So those who worship the Sun as the Deity of their Clan were called SuryaVanshis and so on and so forth. It is very similar to what team you originally belong to. People changed their Clans as well by choice, or like in the case of Karna, he gets adopted because Kunti abandons him. He learns only on the battlefield that he is a Suryavanshi ! . @@vanshaavalii - Yes. The Vaanar species could be close to Homo Sapiens but slightly monkey like in appearance, hence they get called out as Monkey people. Also the tail is very specifically emphasised as of great importance. If you see Discovery channel or observe monkeys, some city monkeys have tails now and some don't. But the forest one's, also the Langurs have tails that they use as a limb to protect themselves from falls while they jump from branch to branch. Similarly, in Ramayana, for example, it is depicted that they wore little clothes. Women were bare chested. They were hairy. And Sugriva and some top Vaanars from his Kingdom were invited aboard on the Pushpak Viman (as Large as 5 big cities out together). This Pushpak Viman belonged to Raavan, and after he was defeated and Lanka was won and Vibhishan made the ruler of Lanka, Pushpak Vimaan was given to Lord Ram to go back to Ayodhya. It is depicted the Pushpak halted and picked up Sugriva, his main wives and important people of his court so they could watch the coronation of Lord Ram finally as the King of Ayodhya. They are called people of the Vaanar Jaati. Jaati can mean Tribe as well as Race. Again, as per Valmiki Ramayana, all Vaanars had real literal tails, not metaphorical ones. So, I don't know if they were Neanderthals because Neanderthals have not been shown with tails. Keep that point in mind please. :)

Vanars in Ramayan: should be the title. English scholars has bastardized all Sanskrit names due to their lack of indepth knowledge. An 'a' is unnecessarily put at the end of names like Rama, Arjuna, Krishna, Vanara etc. The proper pronunciation is Ram, Arjun, Krishn, Vanar etc. Indian and Hindu writers and scholars, please note and correct others as well as yourself. Do not blindly follow others' descriptions of your history, heritage and names.

This is complete wrong interpretation of the Valmiki Ramayana. Yes I have read the entire text and nowhere is it mentioned that they were humans wearing dresses. Next these Ignorant people are going to say that Rakshasas were also wearing costume like the halloween. Just because some things in Ramayanam don't fit your logic doesn't mean you need use your imagination to fill in false narratives. I can understand why so many people are into this, but just because it seems scientifically sound doesn't mean that is what happened.
