The best of LoTW yeah, his SYDC from good old times was awesome. I wish he does more long ones like here as well. And Rome 1 is pleasant to watch, mediaeval 2 I don’t like that much watching it (although I enjoyed played it back in the days), but Rome, Warhammer obviously, and Attila SYDCs are really interesting. Hopefully enough people send more.

That was fast. Thanks! As you might have figured out, it was in fact in very hard/very hard difficulty and it was my first time playing it on RTW years ago. I'm a lot better at the game now but back then I didn't really know how punishing vh/vh can be in RTW. It seemed a lot harder than M2. I also relied too much on comitatenses thinking they were solid infantry because they have great stats but they just shit the bed basically instantly whenever I used them (why dont they have good morale??) and little things like not knowing how culture penalty worked. I did make an effort to go Christian though. Also wasted a bunch of time with those stupid endless saxon armies.Thanks for fixing it.

Use more Sarmatian Cavalry. It is the most cost efficient unit for WRE. Also you can retrain them easily because they are midway on the unit tree. Also get the blacksmith upgrades. The Comitatenses First Cohort are rather expensive but get a few for a killer stack!

BI is such a good expansion pack, it (and kingdoms) really set the bar for what expansions to total war games could be. It's just too bad that only Fall of the Samurai lived up to it in the years since.

@@ivvan497 Hmm it's an oversimplification of the original, not a proper fix. One of the biggest bug is the fortress siege stutter-lag. They didn't fix that, only made fortresses extremely expensive to build.

Barbarian Invasion is by far the most chaotic and snappy Total War game. The models are real whacky but the gameplay is top tier mayhem in a good way I absolutely recommend it to everyone who overlooked this rather obscure dlc

WRE with Barbarian Invasion was a really cool campaign. A nail-biter. Really felt like the deck was stacked against me, which is a cool contrast with the original RTW Roman campaign(s). Once the hordes are beaten and the rebellions and religions are under control, though? That empire can wreck stuff.

Hey legend ! I know you've said many times that you're pretty much done with Medieval 2 but would you ever consider doing something with Divide and Conquer ? They have a submod for KZfaqrs to remove copyrighted musics and some of the campaigns can be really tough as nails (like Dol Amroth) would love to see the cheese master show middle earth how it's done !

Love this. He must have been a newer player to Rome. His faction heir's traits were horrendous. Nothing wrong with being new. That was the selling point for me, with Rome and Med 2... The mechanics. Heir had: Pagan, Wrong-Headed, Liar, Likes A Drink, Corrupt, Wildly Extravagant, Welcoming To Foreigners, Dislikes Christian Cults, Rather Lazy, Are There Gods, Gloomy. He was a walking time bomb. As soon as the Faction Leader died, this guy would have become Leader, taken up a fiddle and stood on Rome's walls while it burned. That's why this and Med 2 are so fun for me. The campaign layer was so deep and fun.

Great to see the classics again. The Tower cheese also worked in Medieval 2. I remember having played as Egypt once. By the time they arrived, i finished building cannon towers. So all i had to do was to sally out. I kept my units inside and the Mongols would stand in place being annihilated by the barrage the cannons unleashed. Fun times :)

Ah yes, how I missed that AI Manipulation to stand near tower strategy. I remember on my 5th playthrough on the game, playing as Seleucid Empire, facing Egypt with 2000 men besieging Antioch, and letting the towers cleaned up 80% of them. And I only had 2 units of peasant as garrison. Good times. I'll pick up RTW as soon as possible. Thanks, Legend

*making old man noises*I know the time when everyone was using fraps to record their video footage and strangely enough it worked better for RTW and Med2 than OBS nowadays. Also very nice to see so much Total War legacy content from you Legend, those were still the best historical titles (I still love Rome Remastered for the modding capabilities and better performance on newer systems though)

I must admit, i ve come to your channel because of Warhammer 3, but right now i enjoy much more Medieval and Rome Total War. Seeing actual tactics and strategies in these games gives much better feeling than in WH3

@@shmekelfreckles8157 definitely more tactical and strategic than right clicking your entire army against the enemy army so you can spam magic missiles once they blob up until you win the entire game

@@antoniodelaugger9236 that doesn’t work most of the time. You can’t do that with Empire. Or Bretonnia. Or Dwarfs. Or Cathay. Any kind of ranged focus army can’t do that, any kind of mobility focused army can’t do that. And magic missiles are the worst type of spells to use against infrantry.

@@shmekelfreckles8157 this isnt even good cope. if ur genuinely trying to argue that theres more cheese in ANY of the historical titles older than the warhammer ones ur gonna have to hook me up with whatever ur smokin. gunners that shoot through their own ranks without reloading, 19 unit doomstacks crushing balanced army comps by sheer stat weight, terrain and morale being practically irrelevant, "early game" units never seeing daylight past turn 20... the list just goes on. you can even say the exact same sentence about wh3 if you just replace "ballista tower" with "legendary lord" - applies to basically all of LoTWs one-man doomstack videos.

@@gnosis940 gunners can’t shoot through their own ranks and they do need to reload even if there is no animation. Doomstacks existed in every TW game and entire point of doomstacks is to crush defeat multiple stacks at once. It’s just more prevalent in WH because of supply line penalties. Terrain is very much relevant for both ranged and melee units and super relevant for cavalry, because charging uphill just doesn’t work. Morale is vitally important for undead factions and demons. And you can abuse it against low morale factions like skaven, who break if somebody looks at them funny. Early game units are usually the most cost effective options you have, look at high elf archers or dark elf darkshards. And because of supply lines your secondary armies will be filled with low tier units for a while. And comparing one-man doomstack to AI exploits is something I don’t have mental dexterity for, some next level gymnastics.

Just started my first DEI Rome 2 campaign. It’s been really nice and feels authentic idk. Skill shows and you can pull out some awesome victories if you use solid tactics
