I don't think so. Michael was very respectful of Diana. Most colleagues would not grab the mic from another performer, especially a huge star who has invited you to share her stage. I am sure at least the general outline of what Diana wanted was laid out. Diana seemed prepared to dance while Michael sang a little. People seem to love the idea that performers grab Diana Ross's mic. The Patti Labelle incident is another phony accusation. Diana clearly invited Patti to take over the lead.

Michael was well known but not yet the super mega star that he was about to become. After the success of Thriller that's when Michael became the most famous person on Earth.
