a baby wipe used after every fletch,just takes a second,keeps the wires clean and keeps a light coating on the wires,one wipe can do loads of arrows,cheap and works beautifully,give it it a go

...Just a thought, I'm not sure what type of material the small sleeves that cover the wire is, but a small application of teflon spray on the micro fiber cloth and wipe the wires after maybe each arrow would save the covers and make for a potentially easier cleanup. I'd love to have this jig, but a bit pricey for retirement years...Great video...

You should have fletched a vane with a good twist & shown a close up to people so they could see how the base of the vane had complete contact instead of having one edge off the shaft.

I think youu need pressure when the glue is drying and with this its impossible. I use that simple red bohning and with that i can have pressure and my vanes or feathers never fail. Also looks this can fail to keep the feather straight because its not between a clamp.

Any tips on how to use thicker vanes like AAE vanes? I have to let each one dry for 2.5 minutes or they come off because the wires are so tight on the thick and ridged vane bases

Hello, good morning! They can be a bit tricky, for sure. What's most important with any thicker vane, whether AAE or others, is ensuring there's no wear on your covers. If the covers are worn, the vane itself will try to stick to the covers instead of sticking to the shaft, and as you try to pull the clamp away, it'll try to pull the vane off the shaft even more than normal. Another very important thing is ensuring you are prepping the arrow shaft using a cleaner/activator and then using a fast-setting super glue.

I understand the 4 fletch 90 degrees but I cant work out the 105 what am I missing 120 is 3 fletch

another popular way of doing 4 fletch is 105/75 degree instead of 90, think of it in terms of like a flattened X

Impressive device! Essential for fletching those perfect expensive super tuned arrows. Just a small comment about camera handing: too much movement! Slow is smooth.

Griv, I have the original VMP. Can I buy the upgraded head and will it fit the original? Will it be available at the Vegas shoot?

Hi Ray, if you're referring to the upgraded clamp with the set screws that is something we can sell separately. A VMP Clamp alone would run $65.00 + shipping. If you have one of the really really old originals (no lasered names or numbers) I always require those to come back so I can ensure I give you parts that fit correctly. If your jig is simply just the old model that does have all the lasered numbers and lines I should be able to get you one that would fit without having the jig come back. The last option is the one we see used most often which is buying the upgrade alone for your current clamp. The cost would be $10 and the only thing you have to do is send us your clamp to have the upgrade installed. We can install the upgrade to your current parts and it'll save you about $55. I will be upgrading heads at the Vegas shoot but I won't have any extra wires. If you send it to us here I can upgrade anything on the head including the wires if need be. At the shoot I will only be able to upgrade the head with the new set screws and that would be it. I hope this helps!

Would you suggest this jig or a Bitze for someone just starting out fletching their own arrows?

Hi Jason, thank you for your question. The VMP is most definitely a great jig that is going to be better, and more accurate, overall than the BitZ. The learning curve for using the VMP is slightly different from the BitZ but I don't believe it's nothing that you wouldn't be able to figure out after a few test runs. We sell the VMP to new fletchers all the time and we hear over and over again how they love the jig once they receive it and start fletching.

You say helical but looks more like offset then helical.

Good morning! So the VMP fletches a true helical. The VMP clamp is built using wires to hold the vane, and then the wires are held inside the two rotating discs. You first will set your helical angle on the clamp, and then you slide the clamp to the arrow shaft to dry fit before adding glue to your vane. The discs rotate so that it allows your clamp to contour around the arrow shaft giving you the true helical instead of an offset. Contact us if you have any other questions. I don’t understand the nock receiver settings. It’s got compound or recurve. I understand that part. I don’t understand the setting inside the nob right or left 123.
