*Eastside Low Bottoms sh*t !* _Tappin' in from South Central LA_ My immediate memory of Vanessa is the soap opera reunion sketch. Everyone is individually introduced with heavenly, floaty music. But her character is introduced with goofy music and she seems to be the only one who notices or addresses it. Hilarious.

Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork both were accomplishted musicians before the Monkees. Dolenz had to learn drums and Jones could sing from musicals already so it wasn't a stretch...they did have to learn the parts the Wrecking Crew recorded for them on all those Neil Diamond songs they did.

I was looking forward to hearing this one cuz I loved her on the show, but this was painful to listen to. She couldn't get her thoughts straight or put together a coherent sentence without a bunch of hesitations.

Dana point of water here on the monkeys, they all played instruments coming into the monkeys, the problem they had was that the songs released were played by studio musicians and not them and that's what pissed them off, they could always play instruments.

Dana, you're way off on The Monkees. They could all play instruments when they started the show. The producers didn't want them playing on the albums because they weren't real pros in the studio like The Wrecking Crew. Later they wanted to prove they weren't frauds, so they went on tour. Davy was actually the most experienced drummer when they auditioned, but they felt he wouldn't be seen behind the drum kit necause he was so small. So Mickey gave up guitar and learned tbe drums.
