An unabashed, confident and tough as nails lady who always has a vision and an answer. She reminds me of my late grandmother who was a strong willed, tough woman with similar views so this was nice to hear. Talented actress with an enlightening outlook.

All my life I have been inspired by this amazing woman and never has she been more captivating and commanding than at this age talking about the work she does in Bosnia. It is probably well-known that prior to this speech in a short space of time she lost her 1st husband, her sister and daughter (am I leaving anyone out?) and carried on. When she interrupted the Academy Awards on behalf of the displaced Palestinians by West Bank radicals in Israel she was reviled but history bears her out. My grandfather did not survive the holocaust and my mother was luckier but never a Zionist. I think it important to stand up and be counted in these matters and this is a voice worth listening to.

What a Marvelous woman indeed! Just wish the British nation had more such Caring and Compassionate women in their midst! She is a rare gem indeed as few British women cared enough about getting involved in the struggles for Indian Independence as well as the Nations of Africa and other Caribbean and Eastern European nations. One can only have great respect and admiration for this true Humanitarian of a woman!

After giving up in disgust and loathing after a few minutes with all other Oxford Union speakers I find this one, A woman of infinite grace, Hamlet says,,,,what is Hecuba to me or I to Hecuba that I should weep for her, Ms Redgrave answers that

God, you wouldn't believe how this made me miss my dead grandmothers, who have actually experienced both world wars and had quite something to say about them. Yes, I've been to Bosnia when Sniper Alley was still in full effect. Yes, I was shot at and lost allies; still, I was able to face the people that might have killed my folks and sit down with a cup of tea. Your perception of this whole murderous debacle isn't even 50% of what went down, let alone .01% of who is actually to blame for any of this. Consider me quite sad for the rest of the week, thank you very much.

It is rare that a single speaker gets the kind of response from the immediate audience that this incredible woman got. She is such a force for good and imbues me with hope for the human race. In the face of personal great loss she remains empowered by her deep commitment to humanity. In this time of disillusionment she remains a beacon of the light of All Men of Good Will (quote). My father was from the former Yugoslavia and was predicting the blood bath that ensued after the passing of Tito and I am paradoxically glad that he died before it happened; it would have killed him. Thank you Vanessa Redgrave for everything.

I respect her for many things but I don't appreciate the fact that she seems to not understand the we here in the US were ATTACKED. We don't like war, but we are working very hard to try to stop this terrorist madness and we have lost many good, honorable men in doing so. She seems to forget that
@kinky_Z

But where does terrorism COME FROM? Oh yeah... vicious US imperialism so um... what were you talking about? US military mercenary conscriptees who are okay with murdering innocent people abroad for private corporate profits, if it pays a couple dollars more than at Burger King? And making us much less safe at home? Those "good, honorable men"? OMG! cut me a break!
