I was literally just listening to this song, when the message of his death reached me. I am devastated. He was the most important and influencal musician in my life. I don't know if I will ever mourn another musician's death, but this is a sad day for me. Thanks for everything. Without you my life would have made a different turn. I don't know if for better or for worse, but I'm glad it turned out the way it did. Without him I probably would never have discovered a lot of music, mixing, djing and electronic music in general. Thank you, master. Rest in peace! I hope we meet in heaven one day and can make a bit of music together.

Same, my mom was a big fan of his and left a lot of CD's that I listened to as a kid, pretty much developed my taste in new age and electronic music.

My great Master. Me and my brother used to play your songs when we were children, basically lived all my life with your music, loved it as a child, love it much more now as a man and musician. You are one of my greatest inspirations, and I never stopped feeling great each time I hear your work. Much love and respect from Iran.

Vangelis... AN UNDISPUTABLE LEGEND
@kudjo24 Жыл бұрын
Best part of Vangelis was written on the album cover for this record, he said that he was simply "a conduit for music", hence why his sounds were purely improv that came out of nowhere and initially recorded in one take, then tweaked later with layered additions. Self taught piano player at 5 years old and didn't even know how to read music properly till much later. Was always a big inspiration for me in my own music meddling that I do as a hobby, it's just pure feelings that come out not perfect but still mean something.

@jimyost2585 Жыл бұрын
@@rickdeckard1075 ~ Well, there is a very small percent of the population who can understand music like this. I don't think that anyone who hasn't done psychedelic drugs could understand this music. I'm not touting the use of psychedelic drugs, because I almost ruined my life with acid and mescaline, but I am glad that I experienced it to the point where I am now able to understand this kind of music, plus many other things that I never would've known about if I hadn't done the psychedelic drugs. It's like those drugs open a window into a realm that most people don't know exists.

Back in the end of 80' there was a BIG laser show in front of our parliment in Quebec city and that song was the masterpiece during the green and blue from the 40W argon laser were filling the sky above my head. THIS is why now i am working with lasers at work!

My favourite Vangelis track from my favorite album. It doesn't get much publicity but I feel it was the greatest combination of maturity and still an enthusiasm for powerful, sometimes rock/pop sensibilities. Later he got more mellow and new agey, which was still good but less exciting to me. This album has a lot of great songs.

Its basically modern day orchestral its Bach ,Motzart Tchaikovsky etc he is going to be recognised after death. If only he was used in more movies. He wanted 1 million per.movie that is a bargain but for aome reason he only did one or two films

Here are Vangelis movie scores that I can think of at this moment: Chariots of Fire Missing Blade Runner Antarctica 1492, Conquest of Paradise And there are the documentaries of Frédéric Roussif, if my memory has not confused his name with someone else. Anyway, there must be an online list that's complete.

How ironic, and what an analogy to be made from the Bible at John Chapter 3: Verse 8 when Christ speaks to Nicodemus saying "The [WIND] blows where it wants to, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who has been born from the spirit." NWT (NEW WORLD TRANSLATION OF THE HOLY SCRIPTURES).

I gotta say, the wilder sections with the guitar sounds, I'm not much into it. But the start of this piece and the entire album has a lot of extraordinary harmonies.
